A few weeks ago I posted that my wife and I would be leaving for a trip to WDW after learning about a return of my cancer. The surgery was 10 weeks ago and I am cancer free for the second time in two years. :sohappy:We visit the World 2-3 times a year but this trip was special given the reason for going. I can't quite put my finger on what made the trip so enjoyable but it was. One highlight was Flag Retreat on September 11. We did the Keys to the Kingdom tour and Rae, the CM guide, was outstanding, as was the tour. The crowds were light and that helped as did the great weather. I met some terrific kids and Divine formed an arch so my wife could ride her ECV under it, that was way cool!! The parks were at their best as were the Cast Members. We ate at TS places we have not been to before and had super meals. I guess the only disappointment was that Casey's was closed. We had a wonderful time and are already looking forward to the next trip. I have to get our photos together and will post them when I do.

Glad to hear of your good news at the Doctor's office! :sohappy: I'm so sick of hearing about cancer and the people who don't make it, and it's nice to hear some good news for a change. And I'm glad to hear the trip went so well, too.

Glad to hear about your personal situation. That being said, what parks were you guys at that the crowds were light? We were at MK on the 11th and I would only call it light compared to peak season.

We began our day on the 11th at EPCOT and the crowd there was very light. We went to MK for the Flag Retreat and, yes, the crowd was heavier there. The crowd at MK was larger on the 16th also but overall you're right compared to peak season the crowd was light but I'm not sure what you would compare it to. Even at the Studios the line for TSM had wait times of 10 minutes when we were there - 2 different times. Same for 'soarin. Longest time we saw for Everest was 15 minutes.

Ah ok, because we never park hop. I think the lowest we ever saw TSM was like 30 minutes. Of course the line moved faster than that though. We did DHS on the 13th and we actually got to ride TSM 6 times. We were expecting this trip to be like our September trip in 08. We walked on most rides with the exception of the Mountains and big rides at other parks, although even then it was about 10 minutes tops.

We don't park hop either even though we have AP's. But we had an ADR at EPCOT and wanted to do Flag Retreat. The monorail makes that easy and quick.

Ok, am I confused? You can go into one park to eat(without using your ticket) and then go into another park using your ticket?

Using our Annual Passes we went to EPCOT and parked there. Spent most of the day, ate at Nine Dragons, then about 4PM we left the park and boarded the monorail to go to MK. Arriving at MK we used our Annual Pass to enter and attend Flag Retreat. After Retreat we reversed the process and without entering EPCOT retrieved our vehicle and drove home.

Very glad to hear the good news! How was Nine Dragons? Me and my girlfriend have been wanting to eat there for a while to try something new.

It was okay. We had an appetizer trio; beef, shrimp and noodles (?) and it was so-so. I had Kung Pao and it was good my wife had fish which was good too. Nothing outstanding. Service as quite good

Oh ok, in my sleep stupor I failed to see the AP part. That's awesome. I'm still working on getting my family to move to the Kissimmee area. Our company has sites in the general area and housing is just as cheap as it is here.

Congratulations on your fantastic personal news. :sohappy: Reading previous posts from you, you appear to be a stubborn guy when it comes to cancer and I'm sure that's why you continue to beat it. It's wonderful you were able to celebrate with your wife @ WDW.

Thanks Dad, yeah, I guess stubborn fits. When I got my first diagnosis I promised myself that I was not going to let cancer take over my life. I am very, very fortunate to have a supportive wife and family and to be in a position that allows me to live the life we do. Helps to have a really good surgeon, too. As we went around the parks I noticed several young children with Make-a-Wish buttons. Puts things in perspective.
