Pre-Trip Our Furious Four Up-Coming Trip! Feb 2015

Ok, So now that I am officially at the 60 day mark, I thought I'd make my pre-trip thread. I'm am our family's certified official Disney freak so it is no surprise that I have done all the pre-trip planning. I have been mentally preparing this trip since our last and actually planning it since my husband caved in and said we could go again.

The History: I grew up Disney. Plain and simple. Growing up, I went with my family once a year every year of my childhood. I grew up on Disney movies, shows, specials and catchphrases. When I had kids, I knew they'd be 2nd generation Disney fans. My husband on the other hand, did not. He went once as a kid, too young to remember and then once as a young adult with my family and me. He does not understand why a family would want to keep going back to one place year after year "when there are so many different place in the country to see" Agree to disagree.

We last went to WDW in September 2012 with our two kids (then 2.5 and 1.5), my parents, and my sister. It was an amazing trip and everything went great. The best part was having the kids outnumbered. Everybody got some great "kid" time, "family" time and quality "adult" time. It took quite a bit of convincing for my husband to return so soon. His big draws were the food, a great price on airfare and accommodations AND the facts that our son is under 3 and therefore FREE.

( I figured I'd break this novel up and this looked as good a place as any)

Fingers are still crossed - my husband's sister never brought up a Disney Trip again... she could still last minute surprise me, but I think it's 90% safe to say we're in the clear. I guess it was the Christmas wine talking...

I think we are going to add on the Pirate Pals Cruise. My son is really into pirates these days & I think both kids would LOVE it. PLUS - it's pretty distant from the fireworks, so a freak out is unlikely. Does anyone know - do people dress up as pirates for the cruise? I think I'd like to do a little something. arrrggggghhh 48 more days!

All the plans sound really fantastic. Have a wonderful relaxing vacation with just the four of you. Hopefully no SIL addition will upset your plans. The Christmas picture of the kids was adorable. Will be watching for the trip report.

So we are at 14 days away and I am downright GIDDY with excitement.:D:D:D:D The kids and I made a fun pinterest-y countdown calendar in which they get to tear off another day each morning. I'm not sure my little man knows exactly what's in store, but his big sister sure does! The last time she went to WDW she was right around 3 years old and it's really amazing how much she retained and remembered from that visit.

We got our magic bands in the mail right before the latest snowstorm. I was debating purchasing decals, but ultimately decided against it - I'd rather spend that $$ on souvenirs. I would still like to fancy them up a bit, so if a have enough time and patience, I'll see what I can do with some glittery nail polish. Oh and with these snowstorms... ENOUGH ALREADY. we have about 18 inches of built up snow here... with more coming Thursday. Its in the 70s right now in Orlando, and that just sounds amazing.

Also, I did score a great autograph book on Amazon for only $5, so I guess we are doing autographs again this year.

I've started "mentally packing" which is basically half the job already. We have a very busy next 2 weeks, so finding the time to actually pack will be a challenge. My dad is turning 60 and my brother-in-law is turning 40 within the next two weeks. (yeah cake...boo extra pounds)

Oh, and about the whole "in-law drama" ... I finally talked to my sisterinlaw - I needed to ask her if they could dog sit while we were in WDW. Her response, "no, we'll be in Orlando, too" !!!! I was speechless. However, before I said something stupid and lost my cool, she told me that they were going to LEGOLAND and SeaWorld - not Disney. Phew - crisis averted. Yes, I think it's weird they are going to Orlando the same time as us and yet I'm so relieved I don't have to share my well-planned vacation with miserable people. whatever.

The only little itty bitty snag is the whole BOG ressie situation. I really REALLY wanted to have a lunch at BOG, but I think we are going to have to wait to see if we can when we check in on the 25th. It's one little selfish thing I want. My husband would care either way and I'm sure my kids probably wouldn't dig the food but I was really interested in visiting here. The last time we visited, BOG wasn't doing the FP's yet and had a long line and I got vetoed on waiting. Fingers crossed for this time that I'll be able to get a lunch reservation when we check in. If not, no biggie - Columbia Harbor House is a solid backup bucket list QS.

So that's it for today. I'll keep you guys posted will all the happenings before we leave, as this site is a great procrastination tool/pre-trip stress reliever :p:p

Wow just 14 days.... compare to our countdown.... just wow! :)
Funny - I was just reading your Pre-trip report. So Exciting!!

It strangely goes quick though. I booked this 220 days out... I remember looking forward to the 180 mark to make ADR's . Of course the hoopla of the holidays and my brother's upcoming wedding helped move the time along, but it almost feels like this trip snuck up on me!! The countdown clock app on both here and my phone sure do help move the time too!!

It came and went in a blink of an eye! Now I keep saying I need a vacation from our vacation :p

Truth Be Told - I'm kind of a Trip Report snob:happy: ... I love trip reports like @fractal that have beautiful pictures of the parks along with a great written story. I am no trip reporter LOL... We had borrowed my dad's fancy schmancy camera and after 2 days or blurry pictures, we went to my default easy peasy camera. I tried to take artsy pictures of all the food we ate... but we are savages and were hungry darn it!! SO yes... I will attempt a Trip report, I'll probably have a blast writing it and going through all of my memories - but it won't be up to snuff for all the trip report snobs out there:p

I completely understand what you mean :) And you can call me a TR addict! It helps passing the time until our own trip. And it is also great to write a TR yourself! It's like re-living the trip. We always take a lot of pictures but every pic is ok for a TR! We always forget to take the food pictures, but the next trip in October we wil try :) So again thanks for sharing and taking time for our PTR :)
