Our first DVC trip - HELP!

We prefer OKW to SSR . The rooms are bigger and the Hospitality House has a tropical ambiance. SSR has walking access to DTD which might be important to you. Some people prefer the SSR pools. This could be a factor in the summer. SSR has elevators and OKW doesn't. The walk up to the third floor can be brutal.

We greatly prefer a savannah view at AKV. It is really special to see the animals from your own balcony. If you opt for savannah, don't get the top floor. The trees block some of the view.

OKW also has walking access to DTD however it is a much longer walk, but very enjoyable. It is a paved path that starts at the end of South Point Rd and continues along the canal to Village Lake which is the body of water between DTD and SSR. This path ties in SSR, Tree Houses, OKW and DTD together.

OKW also does have a few buildings with elevators which are some of the latest additions to the resort. I believe Bldg's 62, 63 & 64 which are near Hospitality House are the buildings with elevators.

I didn't know about the walking path to DTD from OKW. It sounds like kind of a long walk, though. When we have stayed at OKW, we have taken the boat to DTD. I don't know if they are still running it with all the construction. It is fun and I recommend it. SSR also has a boat.

We have never gotten a room with an elevator at OKW. If, as the previous poster indicates, they are located near Hospitality House, those rooms usually book up first. We have never gotten a HH room at the 7 month window. Do the handicapped have priority for those rooms with the elevators? That would make sense.

While we don't care for SSR, we have friends who don't like to stay anywhere else. I imagine that with the expansion of DTD, SSR with it's close proximity to DTD will become harder to book.

My family ADORES Kidani because of all the wonderful activities offered at the hotel, I have 2 kids 14 and 10. We love the community hall that has such fun things to do, they actually ask to come back "home" and go there to have fun!
