We have stayed once before, but never around Christmas time. I will look for those pics for sure. I am loving your report, reminding me of the trips my husband and I took pre kids!

Day 3 afternoon/evening contd...

After a break back at the room we went over to Epcot for a late lunch at WS. Before we get to that, I forgot to mention something that happened on our first night at BW. We had a rather odd/laughable occurrence that played a small role in our trip for the next few days. We were awakened around 3 am to the sound of the couple in the room next to us who were, um.., getting to know each other in the "biblical sense". Very loudly. Aside from the headboard thumping on the wall, what made it worse was the very, very, very particular sound one of them was making. I can only describe it as a horse whynnying. It was strange to say the least. We were just sitting there waiting for it to end. We were so weirded out it that it took awhile to get back to sleep, but we managed.

So.....fast forward to the current afternoon. We get back to the room and my wife is getting snacks out of the fridge and out of nowhere it begins again. It was EXACTLY the same. We just sat there laughing for a moment and took our food out to the patio. That did not help as it was actually louder out there. We turned the tv up and just waited for it to end again. Our appetite was pretty much gone so we had a beer or two and headed out. More info on this subject later. Nothing graphic, and apologies for the "adult" content, but it kinda has a funny ending. So anyway...

We hadnt made any ADR's for the day and MK was open late for EMH. We love the Patissiere Boulingerie (im sure i spelled that wrong) in France pavilion and they have great food at a good price. The plan was to eat and booze our way around WS and then catch the monorail to MK. 1664 is a great beer as well so France pavilion is #winning as far as we're concerned

She ordered the Brie aux Pommes (Brie, Apples and Cranberries in Multi Grain Bread - $8.00) and I went with the Croque Monsiuer (Toasted Ham and Cheese - $8.75)

Brie aux Pommes (they heat it up in the oven so the cheese melts, mmm)

Croque Monsieur (also heated up and very good)

We enjoyed a beer outside while overlooking WS Lagoon and proceeded to work our way through the countries. We stopped at the America Pavilion for libations and enjoyed the Kwanzaa storyteller. I didnt understand why Kwanza wasnt in the smaller Africa area but oh well, I had a fresh beer and enjoyed the show.

We stopped again at Germany pavilion. This is hands down our favorite pavilion. Not only for the excellent beer choice but for the food as well. As I mentioned previously, my wifes fav restaurant is Biergarten, but her favorite snack at WS is the nudel gratin from the Sommerfest stand located inside where Biergarten is housed. Its only a few bucks and pairs great with any of the German brews. Another great snack for two people to split.

A few more random stops at various pavilions and then we were at the front. We snagged a beer at on of the carts by TT to finish as we walked to the front to catch the monorail. We have become very good at balancing the right amount of drinks to keep a "jolly" feeling that will last well after arriving to the MK, but without getting wasted like a college frat boy. We maintain responsibility. (sort of

We finished our drinks and boarded the monorail. The weather wasnt too cold that evening and we were excited to finally get a chance to ride 7DMT.

We arrived at MK and the crowds were not terribly bad. We always take our time going down MSUSA. We weaved in and out of the shops and made our way over towards Tomorrowland. We went to Space Mtn first. Wait wasnt long and we were in our shuttles before we knew it. We spend time in line sending pics to family and fawning over pictures of our pets (we are lame). It helps pass the time.

So at the end of the ride there was an emergency stop. We were just sitting thee for several minutes.
It was literally right at the end. All the lights came on.

Eventually a CM came and got us out of shuttle and escorted to the exit. It was cool because we had never been evacuated from a coaster. The bonus was that even though we basically rode the entire coaster they still gave us all the free FP. Since the park wasnt crowded wefigured it was best to save it for another day.

We made our move towards 7DMT since it was later in he evening and our wait time was less than what was posted so it worked out well. All my pics here came out blurry. We hit POTC and HM and then Peter Pan to finish the night off. We had plans to stay longer but we were getting sleepy and it was starting to get cold.

A nice flight around London and Never Never LAnd and we headed to the bus stop to go home for the night. When we got back to BW Iwas kinda hungry and headed over to ESPN Zone since they are open late. This is another great perk of the Boardwalk side. ESPN Zone has decent food and its a great option if your hungry after your day. On many of or trips I will grab a bite there while my wife has some time with her crossword puzzles or the Disney channel. Its become sort of a tradition. I always get my food to go and eat at the room because as much as she will say she isnt hungry, she winds up eating some. I almost always get the nachos. Theyre are just plain good, and its a large serving so we always have leftovers. Ill continue day 4 soon... We are about to watch Game of Thrones and Im getting a stare from my wife so I should wrap it up for now!

Wonderful end to the last couple days. I really like that pictures from Space Mountain with the lights on. All of the beer and food pictures looked really good and something to try on my next trip. Following along.

Thanks! I keep thinking people are probly getting bored reading about our drinking and eating, lol. Our park touring style drives my brother nuts because he is the type that wants to ride as many rides as possible. Glad you guys are enjoying it!

So how would you compare your trips pre and post kids? My wife and I always joke about how if we have kids that all our eating drinking at the park days will be over. My sister went many times before her kids were born and she hands down loves the trips more with kids. Its funny because I never remember her getting as frustrated on trips before she had kids, lol.

And to answer your question... believe it or not Kwanzaa is more of an American holiday. It was created by an African-American man from Maryland. Which is why it is in the America Pavilion.

Thanks! I think I actually photocopied it almost 15 years ago from a greeting card for one of my bosses. I loved it so much but didn't want to have to buy another one just for me. LOL

Day 3, appx 3 am

The couple next door was at it again. It woke me up first then my wife. It was just annoying at this point, and gross to have to listen to the equestrian style sounds penetrating the wall. It finally ended and we were able to sleep. We had yet to actually see the couple in the few days we had been there, we had only heard them. That would change later in the afternoon on day 4.

Day 4 (Animal Kingdom)

We woke up after a lousy nights sleep and were moving at a snails pace. I quickly showered and did my routine of walking down to the Boardwalk Bakery for some much needed coffee and a very sugary pastry for us. It was bit more chilly than the past few mornings but that actually helped to wake me up. I grabbed a huge cinnamon bun and some coffees and headed back to the room.

This was delicious. Definitely give it a try. I put it in the microwave for about ten seconds and it was perfect. Shortly after we were out the door and on our way to the bus for AK. The sun was out but it was still a bit nippy so we both wore light layers since the weather report called for it to warm up a bit in the afternoon. For anybody who has never been in December/January we have found that light layers (thermal shirt or light sweatshirt with a t shirt underneath) are best because in the afternoon it usually gets warm enough to take off the top layer and fold up to put in our backpack.

We arrived at the park and the front gate was very crowded. It looked like Spring Break level crowds. They had most of the entry points open too but it was still jammed up. We hopped in one of the lines and it took about 5-7 minutes to get through. Quicker than we expected.

Looks pretty bad but we got in without too much of a hastle. We got in and made our way over to the Safari. We got a rather late start to the day (thanks neighbors) and it was already noon so we stopped at Dawa Bar for a drink. We had such a sugar high from the coffees and cinnamon bun that we figured we might as well throw some alcohol in the tank as well. Dawa Bar is a great spot. There were quite a bit of other people getting their drink on as well and the drummers were in the street (I think there called Tam Tam Drummers?) so it was a pretty festive atmosphere.

We enjoyed our drinks and watched the show then got over to the Safari. It was warming up too so that was plus. We always take a million pictures on the Safari despite the fact that we already have a bazillion. Its just fun.

The lions were actually awake and we got a pretty good picture of both of them.

We have some really fun drivers in the past but this one was just ok. He wasnt bad, just not the best. So after our adventure through Africa we headed back towards Harambe Village. We did some browsing in the shops while waiting for our FP for Everest. We really liked this Safari Duffy.

It was time for Everest! Even though the Yeti is in a sad state we still really enjoy the ride. My wife would not ride it for years but I finally convinced her a few trips back and she is hooked!

Next we went over to Dinosaur, one of our favorites! We quote the "access denied" line from the pre-ride video a dozen times a week. We are dorks, but its fun to say it. We stopped for a drink before riding and had a seat on the benches close to the entrance. As we were sitting there we saw the newly engaged couple we met a few nights prior at La Hacienda. We chatted with them for awhile and exchanged info to keep in touch. They were very nice and we were glad to have seen them again. And we actually have kept in touch with them.

One additional passenger...extra large!

From here we just strolled around and took our time enjoying everything around us. It so easy to get lost in the environment around you at AK. We have seen all the shows many times and we were just in the mood to soak it all in for awhile. We always eat at Yak and Yeti CS but we just werent hungry yet and we knew we would be back in a day or two. An hour so and a few drinks later we made our back to the bus stop to return to BW. Ill finish up the afternoon/evening a little later. My wifes gonna be home soon and I am supposed to mow the lawn so Ill see you guys in awhile!

A good nights rest and we were up and ready for HS. For anybody reading along for info on the Boardwalk I will say that one thing we love are the mornings. Yacht Club is our favorite resort of all but the Beach Club and Boardwalk are just as amazing. We have stayed at the Boardwalk Inn twice in the last 3 trips and while Yacht Club remains our fav, BW is really growing on us.

The YC side is very serene and great to sit and have a quiet moment. Mornings on the BW side have a little bit more buzz. Nothing overwhelming, just slightly more activity between all the prep work happening. I love seeing the Friendship boats docking while the landscaping crews are watering the over sized terracotta planters that line the pathway from the lobby to the walkway. You can hear the faint hum of a leaf blower and maintenance crews finishing up while Cast Members are moving about getting ready for the day to begin. As you stroll along and get closer to the bakery the aroma draws you in. I always make a stop at Boardwalk Bakery for a pastry while wife is getting ready.

We tore into before I remembered to get a picture. Heres what was left after about ten seconds, lol.

We had a coffee maker in our villa but there were no filters that we could find so we headed back down to the bakery when we left and grabbed some coffee for the walk to HS. Another great thing we love about the BW side is the access to the pathway to HS. Its only about a 10-12 minute walk and not much longer than the boats take.

So we strolled along with our coffees enjoying all the little ducks and turtles you see along the path. As we got to the Studios it seemed a bit crowded. Of course we had problems with our magic bands at entrance too. I know some people have "flawless" experiences but for us there is at least one issue per day. Mostly minor problems at park entrance or not working on the room door. Nothing crazy, but we never had any of these issues prior to magic bands. The most annoying thing is the park entrance and the mickey head turning blue. What drives me nuts is the procedure you have to go through. They make you scan it three times and then ask "is that the same finger you used before?", then they ask, "is this your first time using this band"? Then they call over the Ipad person who has you do THE EXACT SAME THING and asks THE EXACT SAME QUESTIONS. Its gotten to the point where we just answer the questions before they even ask them. Then when they "fix" it I ask what the problem was so we can tell the next CM if it happens again. Its never the same answer and when we have the problem again and tell the CM what happened last time they say it was a different problem this time. I think they have no idea what theyre doing and they just tell the system to let you in. Who knows, anyway, sorry for the rant, back to the trip...

We got down Hollywood Blvd making our way to Star Tours. We were strolling past TGMR and found a humongous leaf on the ground. At first we thought it was fake or some sort of thing like the brush on Tom Sawyer Island at MK. She picked one up and we realized it was a real leaf. It was huge.

In all our trips we had never seen these. Pretty cool. Once we looked around more we saw several on the ground. So we headed to Star Tours taking the walk through Pixar Place so we could finish our coffee. I saw an old childhood friend on the way.

I didnt take any pics at Star Tours because the line was very short and we breezed right in. We ride Star Tours a lot so we will see some pics later. We walked over to TSMM for our FP. Ive been getting better at achieving the easter eggs but still have a ways to go to get that really high score.

We moseyed on over to Writer Stop for an iced coffee. I was craving one for some reason. I dont thik there is anything at Writers Stop that is not 100% awesome. The Carrot Cake Cookie is our favorite but we were saving that for when we saw the Osbourne Lights.

We got the small iced coffee so we wouldnt be full for an afternoon snack. We planned on walking over towards 50's Prime Time in hopes we could get a seat at Tune in Lounge. We had not been lucky on our last 2 trips and had high hopes that the third time would be a charm. We have eaten at 50's Prime before but never sat at the bar. As we approached we could see all the people waiting out front and though for sure the bar would be full. Right as we peeked in there were several people leaving the bar and we snagged two seats!

After looking over the menu we decided to keep it light since we also wanted to have a few beers as well. It was a little after 1 pm so we figured it was high time for a drink! We ordered the onion rings and Yuengling. The onion rings were a perfect size snack for 2 people and the dipping sauce was great.

They do the same routine at the bar as in the restaurant as far as the 50's style lingo. Our bartender was very good at playing the role. The bar is close to the kitchen as well so you can hear the wait staff yelling all the crazy stuff they say like, "Ma, we got two orders of fried chicken"! It was very fun and we cant wait to try it again. Some of the specialty cocktails looked good as well.

After Tune in Lounge we browsed around the shops for awhile and watched some of the street acts. We wandered over to RnR and the wait was actually not too long so we got in line. We decided after RnR that e would head back to the room for a break. Ill continue the rest of the day in my next post. Thanks so much for all the comments and following along. We are having a lot of fun writing this TR and remembering all the little moments while looking at the pictures.

Great trip report so far,,,, my family and I always try to hit the t.v. lounge bar too.. its a great experience..enjoy your time now cause when you have kids you'll go crazy its a good crazy my kids are 29 and 24 and they still come every year with me to Disney

Day 4 contd.. (afternoon/evening)

I made mistake earlier when I mentioned that we would see our loud neighbors this afternoon. Looking at my photos I realized it was day 5, so we will get back to them later.

We got back to BW around 5 pm and the weather was very nice by now. There was a very nice breeze and the reports called for a slight temperature drop after sunset. We wanted to take of advantage of it and not linger around the resort for too long. We had some healthy snacks and fruit for a quick meal and changed into slightly warmer clothes so we would be good to go when the weather cooled down later. Im sure you wont be surprised that we decided to head to Epcot for the evening. Shocker! lol. We go to Epcot almost everyday of our trips, lol. Especially when we stay at a BW resort.

We stopped for a quick picture on the Boardwalk as we proceeded to Epcot.

We wasted no time in getting to World Showcase so we could get some drinks! We were gonna walk around from France to Mexico and end up at The Land so we could eat at Sunshine Seasons Food Court. We walked along slowly because the weather was great and we were stopping to sit down and enjoy the view out over the lagoon. As I mentioned earlier in the report, we dont put too much emphasis on the rides because we have visited many times and its afternoons like this that we enjoy just being there and relaxing. No need to rush around and maximize our time for attractions.

For us, sitting in a nice area and listening to the music and sounds of WS and people watching is just as fun as any E-ticket. Theres nothing wrong with riding as many rides as you can either, especially when you have children. When we visit with my brother and sister and their kids, its a totally different ball game. The kids want to ride stuff all day and we love running around with them and watching them have a blast. I think its the energy level that the kids have that make it fun to bounce around from one ride to the next.

We always like to visit the train set at WS. We grabbed some drinks from Germany first. There was a little train rolling all by itself and as we watched it, we noticed that it kept getting stuck in one particular area and its wheels would just spin for a few seconds, then it would take off again. Maybe we were getting tipsy, but it was hilarious to watch this locomotive race around the track and then get stuck every time.

We stopped at Norway pavilion to gaze upon the old Maelstrom building. The waterfall is a nice reminder of all the fun times we had on our Norwegian adventures into troll country.

All the booze had her a little emotional, lol

After Norway we were getting hungry so we walked over to The Land. I NEVER get tired of the aroma you experience as you enter the building. On our first visit as a couple we ate at Sunshine Seasons and had the turkey sandwich and fell in love. I think we had it three times that trip. We always look forward to having one when we visit. Its fairly big and we usually split one and get the kids plate of mac and cheese and green beans and potatoes. We dug into it so quickly that I didnt even get a picture until it was almost gone.

We need a little help with this next picture:

If anybody knows what this dessert is we would love to know the name. We looked up the menu for Sunshine Seasons and couldnt find anything matching its description. It was a creamy filling with cocunut around the chocolate shell and a slice of banana on top. We considered the fact that we may have bought it at one of the pavilions and brought it with is for dessert after diner but neither of us recall doing that (we were drinking though so our memory may be fuzzy). We do remember that it was DELICIOUS though. I wish I had one right now!

So after our diner we continued on to our usual style of finishing the day at Epcot. We are such creatures of habit for the most part. We always do Soarin, and TT to end the day. During our meal we realized we hadnt yet rode SSE so we made plans to work our way over there after Soarin. We hopped in line at Soarin and the wait was not too bad. Wife told me I was #1 just before take off.

A short walk over to SSE afterwards to thank the Phoenicians and watch the monks toil endlessly...

This is where they put your picture on the big globe in the "Project Tomorrow" area when you exit the ride. We enjoy being as dorky as possible for the on ride photos so we wore our magic bands like sunglasses. It was pretty funny looking and there were a few people looking at it trying to figure it out.

Then on over to TT to finish off the night and take one more dorky on ride photo. Well, at least I did. My wife was having too much fun too be cool like me.

We headed back to the room while Illuminations was finishing. Its a great walk through World Showcase with
Illuminations playing in the background. We got back to the room and I went down to the Boardwalk to grab a snack. We put the Disney channel on and just kicked our feet up. Over the last few years we have really gotten into some of the DIsney channel shows while on vacation and when we return home we wind up watching the whole series. It started with Suite Life of Zack and Cody years ago. We watched it one night and really liked it. We wound up watching all of the seasons when we returned home that trip. The next trip it was Wizards of Waverly. Again, we returned home and watched all of them. Then it was Good Luck Charlie the next trip, followed by Jessie. Pickins have gotten slim lately for the Disney channel. We tried DOg with Blog but it wasnt for us. Lab Rats is ok. Were hoping we will find a new show on our next trip.

We always like to visit the train set at WS. We grabbed some drinks from Germany first. There was a little train rolling all by itself and as we watched it, we noticed that it kept getting stuck in one particular area and its wheels would just spin for a few seconds, then it would take off again. Maybe we were getting tipsy, but it was hilarious to watch this locomotive race around the track and then get stuck every time.

We stopped at Norway pavilion to gaze upon the old Maelstrom building. The waterfall is a nice reminder of all the fun times we had on our Norwegian adventures into troll country.

After Norway we were getting hungry so we walked over to The Land. I NEVER get tired of the aroma you experience as you enter the building. On our first visit as a couple we ate at Sunshine Seasons and had the turkey sandwich and fell in love. I think we had it three times that trip. We always look forward to having one when we visit. Its fairly big and we usually split one and get the kids plate of mac and cheese and green beans and potatoes. We dug into it so quickly that I didnt even get a picture until it was almost gone.

If anybody knows what this dessert is we would love to know the name. We looked up the menu for Sunshine Seasons and couldnt find anything matching its description. It was a creamy filling with cocunut around the chocolate shell and a slice of banana on top. We considered the fact that we may have bought it at one of the pavilions and brought it with is for dessert after diner but neither of us recall doing that (we were drinking though so our memory may be fuzzy). We do remember that it was DELICIOUS though. I wish I had one right now!

So after our diner we continued on to our usual style of finishing the day at Epcot. We are such creatures of habit for the most part. We always do Soarin, and TT to end the day. During our meal we realized we hadnt yet rode SSE so we made plans to work our way over there after Soarin. We hopped in line at Soarin and the wait was not too bad. Wife told me I was #1 just before take off.

This is where they put your picture on the big globe in the "Project Tomorrow" area when you exit the ride. We enjoy being as dorky as possible for the on ride photos so we wore our magic bands like sunglasses. It was pretty funny looking and there were a few people looking at it trying to figure it out.

Then on over to TT to finish off the night and take one more dorky on ride photo. Well, at least I did. My wife was having too much fun too be cool like me.

We headed back to the room while Illuminations was finishing. Its a great walk through World Showcase with
Illuminations playing in the background. We got back to the room and I went down to the Boardwalk to grab a snack. We put the Disney channel on and just kicked our feet up. Over the last few years we have really gotten into some of the DIsney channel shows while on vacation and when we return home we wind up watching the whole series. It started with Suite Life of Zack and Cody years ago. We watched it one night and really liked it. We wound up watching all of the seasons when we returned home that trip. The next trip it was Wizards of Waverly. Again, we returned home and watched all of them. Then it was Good Luck Charlie the next trip, followed by Jessie. Pickins have gotten slim lately for the Disney channel. We tried DOg with Blog but it wasnt for us. Lab Rats is ok. Were hoping we will find a new show on our next trip.

Damn you for keeping us in suspense about your noisy neighbors. I can't figure out if it's going to be a 73 year old woman and a 21 year old escort, a Honduran swim team, or Minnie and Mickey.
