Our best WDW day did not involve any theme park.

Hello, @epcotisbest , hope you are well.

We love hitting the parks, taking a midday break and going back, but I will admit, one of the best days, we hung out at the resort before a late departure. We still talk about riding that surrey bike around Port Orleans. Great fun!
Hello back to you @MouseDreaming have not seen you on here much lately. Hope you and your family are doing well. We have a couple of trips coming up and are trying to decide what tickets, if any, we are going to get. Might get annual passes, might just go to a couple of parks, might not get any WDW tickets and just go over to SeaWorld. Who knows? We might lounge by the pool for a week. Thinking about taking our bicycles again and riding around the Fort Wilderness campground loops. There is also good bike riding from SSR over to the Treehouse Villas then on to OKW and back and we also might just take them over to Celebration and ride around there as well. We drive, so it is not really a problem hauling the bikes around.

Some of my favorite times from our trip last year were at the resort (AKL). My husband took a long nap with my daughter and I used that time to roam all over the resort and make it a game to sit in as many rocking chair's as I could. It was so relaxing.
So how many did you sit in ?

Still don't take a day out at the resort but our general pace of touring has become more relaxed.
You come from a long way away to get to there, so I don't blame you a bit for wanting to maximize park time. A more relaxed pace while at the parks is still an improvement over going full blast, in my opinion of course. Your mileage may vary.

I'd love to do a down day like this if my friends and I didn't have to fork up another few hundred $$$ to stay onsite.. It's ridiculous.

We have four days in Orlando with two days for driving to and from SC. We're spending a day at each park. (Going to every park because my 3 friends have never been to any of them) So we'll be doing an all-out theme park trip.

But we'll probably use our AK day to catch a movie in the morning at DS before heading to the park in the afternoon.

we did a split stay in February, had 4 nights at boardwalk and 3 at animal kingdom lodge. at boardwalk we did 2 days at parks 2 at resort, at animal kingdom 1 day at park 2 at resort and really really enjoyed the resort days. normally we rush round and spend as much time in the parks as possible but taking the time to explore the resorts properly really opened our eyes to the fantastic job Disney does
