So I banged my foot into my dresser early this morning and now my baby toe is purple/blue/black, puffy and it feels asleep when I put weight on it and it hurts....Any suggestions? This is my first baby toe injury.:ROFLOL:
I am laughing at myself for even posting this, it is my baby toe for pete's sake. But DANGIT it hurts!
Kristamouse is off to Google toe injuries....

Honestly, I would not go to the doctor. They can't do anything, and you would be taking a chance at exposing yourself to colds/flu/strep throat, etc...by being in the waiting room! Even though it is not cold and flu season, there is all sorts of nasty stuff going around where I live...seems like everyone I know is sick or has been sick recently. That is not a chance I would want to take right before a trip to Disney World! Just put ice on it and give it a couple of days. More than likely it will be feeling better soon.

I broke mine the day before we left for Universal in January. Make sure the shoes you intend on wearing in the parks are wide enough to not press in on the toe. My size 13 Sketchers worked much better than my size 13 sneakers. Other than that, ice it down every day. There's not much that can be done about a broken small toe.

I remember doing that during my freshman year at UT, well actually, I don't really remember it since I was under the influence, but I remember that it was really black, blue and purple. If you stay off of it as much as you can and elevate your foot, you should be ready in 7 days. But then again, you're going to WDW. You'll be walking more than just walking around campus going to classes.

But take as many breaks (no pun intended) as you can and have alleve handy.

Good luck and sorry to hear about your injury.

Sorry 'bout your luck...but RICE is the best for a badly bruised little piggy: Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation...Ibeuprofen dose is a good idea as well..but if it continues to stay swollen...get thyself to an x-ray.

Worst case scenario is that you spend your trip getting a free ride around The World, and front of the line service...hmmmmmm, now that I think about it...wonder if a self-inflicted hammer injury is worth skipping all the queue's in 2 1/2 weeks?!?!?!?

I'm so sorry you hurt your toe! I did this about 6 weeks before we went to Disney two years ago. The dr said it would take 8 weeks to heal. I was in agony.

A couple of tips, if you are flying wear VERY comfortable shoes and do not tape the toe. Your feet tend to swell when you are flying and most of the time you won't notice it. With a broken toe, believe me you will notice it. The taping also further constricts the toe. I wore sneakers on the flight and then I had to wear crocs the rest of the trip, it was the only way I could walk. I also wasn't able to re-tape because of the swelling. My dr actually recommended crocs as the only shoe really wide enough to accommodate a broken toe.

I also kept my foot up on a pillow at night to give it a rest, sleeping was rough. Take it easy in the parks and accept that at times it may slow you down. PLus, with the heat your feet will swell too.

Good luck!

The will tell you to ice it and tape it to the toe next to it.

Not much you can do for a broken toe.
Best advice. Taping it to the toe next to it will help splint it and it will feel better. Honestly, that is all a doctor would tell you to do. Good luck!

Do RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation) for as long as you can before you go to help eliminate the swelling.

While you are at Disney if it is fractured, you will have to "buddy tape" it and you may want to invest in an orthotic for your shoes. If your arch is not supported it will pull the tendons attached to your toe and increase the inflamation. DO NOT WEAR FLIP FLOPS!!!!! Lack of arch support will slow down your healing process.

I feel your pain - my son just broke his ankle and we leave day after tomorrow! he's in a 'boot' and we're just going to make the best of it - I told him we'd rent a scooter if the pain got too bad... so good luck we know how you feel!

Do what the others have said and if it gets too bad while you're down there, just rent a scooter. Even one days rental may help to relieve some of the paid. My husband had to rent one while we were there on our last visit because of an injury. He felt so bad having to do it, but couldn't walk very far either. So, he just rode it around most places and then just stood in the regular lines most of the time. I think the only time he ever took the scooter into an attraction was to see Philharmagic. The cm told us that if we hurried we could run and catch the doors before they closed. Well, no way could he run, so he just took the scooter in and just barely made the show. No one looked at him funny and no one judged him from what we could see for being on a scooter. They cost a lot, but at least you'd be able to enjoy the parks or at least know that that's an option to help keep you pain free to enjoy the parks! Good luck and have fun!

(P.S......the bed you suggested for my ds arrived yesterday and he LOVES it! Well, to play on it anyway and pretend he's going to bed. He'll tell us bye (which he says when he's going to bed) and then put his Mickey to bed with him and close his eyes. Now if we could really get him to sleep on it before our trip, that would be great!)
