Jungleland closed down a few years back.

Gatorland is open and is a decent distraction, but expensive for what you get.

I think their is a ranch "Green Meadows Farm" where you can ride horses and whatnot.

If you go to Tampa, the Florida Aquarium is cool.

How about going to Cocoa Beach...it's the closest beach (about 45 minutes), and it's pretty fun going over the causeway's and watching the ships, and of course, the beach! If you would want to venture further, Daytona Beach is a nicer beach and is only a good hour away. I mean, sometimes getting around Orlando can take a good hour, so going to the beach doesn't seem like that long of a trip IMO.

Have you tried going up to Saint Agustine? It´s the first city in the US, lots of history in a very nice, peaceful place. You can visit the first school, and the first many things in the US there, and the fort too. We went there as kids and then as a grown up and both times loved it.

Iwas to Kennedy Space Center a few weeks ago..not bad, takes up most of a day, and you can go have dinner at the Cocoa Beach Pier after.

We found Kennedy Space Center very interesting! I LOVE Cocoa Beach!! There's always Busch Gardens in Tampa... only about an hour away. We had a great day there the last time we visited... it had been over 10 years since our last visit to Busch Gardens.

What about an airboat ride down on bogey creek road. Very noisey but what a blast, plus you get real close up with aligators. One tip is to go early in the morning and you'll see more wildlife.

They also do parasailing but I havent tried that...

OH MY...St. Augustine. After taking 4 field trips there, you start not liking the place. It's like, the castle is so boring, and the only thing interesting is the wall that smells like perfume. The schoolhouse though, that's another story. You know those sideshow attractions were you press the button, and the robots start talking...That's EXACTLY what is in the schoolhouse, with the teacher and the student...and the dungeon. I like the little town though, where you can make butter, and go to all the little village cottages and stuff. In one of them, a chicken or a rooster or one of them things started attacking our group. It's nice the first time, but I don't ever see a need to go back.

JungleLand was the biggest rip-off. I went there for a feild trip too. Our group saw the whole zoo in under 15 minutes.

Gatorland...Once again, to many feildtrips there. It's alright though. Does anyone know if they still have that creaky train open?

Kennedy Space Center ... I don't know. I went there 4 or 5 times when I was little, and I always liked that place. It was peaceful.

Green Meadows Farm - No. Just....no.

Daytona Beach is so dirty. So is Cocoa really. But, a beach is a beach.

But, the worst, and I mean WORST Florida attraction goes to:

The Maze Place (I forget the name). It was right next to the Helicopter ride place, and I would never, ever go back. I believe it is closed now, but when I went for a fieldtrip, you had to find your way through this maze and everytime you find a symbol, you had to stamp your paper. When you have 150 kids running through there, it is just not fun. The stamps were broken and missing...And I didn't even get a Tootsie Roll because I lost my paper

Medieval Times is a blast!! Pretty good food and an entertaining show! I would also recommend going onto International Drive and going to all the shopping and eating places along there, especially Tu Tu Tango's! ;)

Take a visit to Clearwater, very nice place for a day visit, and beutiful beaches, plus the sea is warm because its the Gulf not the Atlantic! If you love beaches its a great palce, very nice hotels down there too if you want to stay longer.

I don't know why, I just prefer the Gulf :) Gotta watch out for those jellyfish though! And if you go in the winter, definetly go the Gulf!

I love Gatorland... best Tourist Trap ever. And only 1 mile from Casa MKT!

Actually, as dumb as it sounds, Orlandos malls are pretty decent for tourists. Millenia, Festival Bay, Pointe Orlando, and the Premium Outlets can give you have a day of (expensive) things to do!

Or even, check out some of the higher end, non theme park hotels.. like the Gaylord Palms or the Ritz-Carlton/JW Marriott.

If you go in April, there is a huge airshow in Lakeland, which is about 30 -45 minutes away on I-4. It's a great show - they have all the different flying groups, both big names like the Blue Angels and such, as well as a bunch of individual aerobatics.

But what is really neat is that this is also geared torwards pilots, so all the companies that support aviation are there, and there are a number of planes which you can climb into and sit in. Plus there are lots of planes on the ground which you can wander around and get up close to. It's called Sun 'n Fun.

Oh come on... don´t be so negative about it! We had a peaceful day and my dad even wanted me to study at Flagler College! We took the tour and got the papers and all, but the city was way too peaceful for a college student like me! :animwink:

The upside down house is Wonderworks.

If you're big music fans, definitely check out the Hard Rock Vault. It's in front of the the (pretty much dead) Mercado shopping center. It's right up the street from Wonderworks. Also up the street is a big outlet mall thing with a big FAO Schwartz toystore.

The Dixie Stampeede dinner show is really cool too. It's like Midevial Times, but with a Civil War type theme. You're either for the North or the South. I haven't been, but my parents have and tay it's great. They say the food there is really good too.
