Awhile back there was discussion on who calls cola "pop" or "soda". I believe it was on the Coca-Cola display at Epcot discussion. Anyway here's a website that shows "who calls what where" http://www.ugcs.caltech.edu/~almccon/pop_soda/

From looking at the chart you linked the major urban cities use both terms, But i think it mostly depends on where and how you were brought up to use the term. I do know from spending a month in atlanta in July of 2000 that when you go into a resturant everything is Coke nomater what you want. I guess that is because Atlanta is a Coke town

Actually Pepsi is preffered over coke by most people in georgia. You would think the opposite though wouldn't you, since its the coke world headquarters. Its pretty weird. I lived in one place where they called every type of soda a "coke". didn't matter what it was,(sprite, pepsi, hawaiian punch)as long as it came in a can, it was known as a coke. Now thats what I call ignorant.
Yeah, but try and find a Pepsi in Atlanta--that's a tough one. And here in Alabama, everything is call "Coke". Call it ignorant, I call it redneck--and I are one of them.:hammer:Originally posted by fridgepoliceman

Back in the old days when I lived up north, we called it pop and my fave was Faygo Red Pop? Anyone remember that?

I didnt mean to offend anyone with that. I called it pop in Minnesota. but since I moved to Georgia I've had to make the switch to soda.

I call it a soft drink most of the times, or a drink, or the name of the beverage I want. (Most of the times Coke!), but when I was in Michigan, it was "pop"... although I don´t recall drinking a "cream soda pop"Cream soda was excellent btw! We have that flavor here too... made by Coke! :slurp:
Has any of you had "Shweppers"? :animwink:
