Osbourne Lights

I have e-mailed Disneyworld 'Guest Services' via disneyworld.com
regarding the issue of the Osborne Lights.

It'll be my 3rd trip to WDW this year, but my 1st at Christmas, and I was so looking forward to seeing this attraction.

As I stated before, the CM at Guest Relations said the Lights will be up and to keep our reservations.

This will be our second time during Christmas, and the way we coaxed our dad into heading back was to see the Osbourne Lights and the Christmas spirit!

I would guess the lights will simply be moved..they are not going to totally rip out Residential Street, as the Backlot Tour trams still need to get from the west side of the park, where the queue is, to the east side of the park, where Catastrophe Canyon is...it will just take some re-routing.

Sure they can totally rip it out. And there are other ways of getting from Tram Load to Catastrophe Canyon besides Residential Street. In fact, if you go to the park within the next week or two, you'll probably see how.

Looks Like the Lights Will Be there this year:

Walt Disney World has made the December holidays a Special Celebration throughout the parks and hotels. This is grand time to visit WDW and get in the HOLIDAY Spirit!

Each of the main theme parks and all the resorts have their own special way of decorating and celebrating the Holidays.

EPCOT HOLIDAYS AROUND THE WORLD - November 29 - December 30, 2002
Epcot hosts an international showcase of holiday traditions including The Lights of Winter, a daily Tree Lighting ceremony at 5:55 p.m., themed storytellers and the Candlelight Processional, featuring a celebrity narrator accompanied by a huge live choir and a 50-piece orchestra. Candlelight Processional Dinner Packages are NOW ON SALE!

Also at Epcot, The American Adventure pavilion in the park’s World Showcase will be home to Santa's Bakeshop, a life-size house made entirely of gingerbread, cookies and icing.

During Kwanzaa (December 26 - January 1) and Hanukkah (November 30, 2002) there will be special related exhibits in The American Adventure Rotunda.

OSBORNE FAMILY SPECTACLE OF LIGHTS --November 29, 2002 - January 5, 2003: Nightly, from dark until park closing. Included in park admission to the Disney-MGM Studios, see the world's largest residential holiday light display, returning for its 8th year with over 5 million colorful light bulbs!

Before you all tell me I know I pasted the wrong article. Those were last years dates. From what I understand, it is still a GO!

Jennings Osborne lives about two miles from me. He says the decision has not been finalized yet but he believes the lights will be up.

When I spoke to him about a week and a half ago, he said they wouldn't be displayed this year but would return next year on New York Street. Sounds like he doesn't know what's going on either.

He may be orchestrating a smaller scale lighting display. The man never passes up an opportunity to put up Christmas lights, or any other lights for that matter. He has had a giant american flag made of lights in his from yard since 9/11. He also decorates the entire RiverMarket district here in Little Rock, all of downtown Hot Springs and several smaller towns and sponsors multiple fireworks displays throughout the state. He is a great guy.
