Osborne Lights - anything new?

Music Loop is at least 50 minutes, but I am pretty sure it is an hour long.

It's not really a loop and there is way more than an hour's worth of music and radio spots that make up the Osborne Lights soundtrack.

There are five dancing lights music selections, with one being played approximately every 15 minutes, and no guarantee as to what order they will appear in from night to night or even hour to hour.

There are around 30 non-dancing lights music selections that, likewise, can appear in random order.

It's possible that you will hear the same 5-10 songs in a row from one night to the next, or multiple times during the same night, but just when you think you know what's coming next, the man behind the curtain will skip four, nine, or twenty tracks down the list.

The dancing music selections are wrapped with radio spots, which also adds to the overall time.

It's entirely possible that 2010 could see some additions...

Thanks for the info!!:sohappy: Monday will be here before you know it. I know they arrange them a little different on the street scenes each year and have changed to those LCD lights, so it will be great to see what they have come up with this year - maybe something new added ?

Just came back from a preview of the Dancing Lights. Listen for Phineas and Ferb, Jennings Osborne, and the "Let the Memories Begin" slogan in between songs.

EDIT:

SPOILER ALERT! (If you call this one.)

To expand on what this means, before the second "dancing" song, the lights suddenly flickered off as if their was a big power glitch. It was accompanied with like sound effects too. It really did catch me by surprise. The regular "radio host" came on and apologized for the technical issue when suddenly Phineas and Ferb pop in the save the day after some scientific explanation. One the lights came on, there was a new dancing song add this year. It was a song that appears in the Phineas and Ferb Christmas special that is airing this holiday season. Concluding the song is a shameless plug for the holiday special which is how I knew where the song came from.

Later on in the "radio broadcast", Jennings Osborne is featured as a radio guest call-in. He is interviewed about the lights for a minute or two. Concluding this broadcast the radio announcer says "Let the Memories begin." Another marketing plug.

There was also another Phineas and Ferb reference before another dancing lights song. I guess some evil character has taken over the controls for the lights. He plans to hypnotize guests at Walt Disney World. That's where Perry the Platypus comes in to save the day.

This may not be all the new additions to the lights this year, but it is a major component. Youse Guys is not only selling the regular Christmas stuff, but is also selling glow items, bubble machines, and of course, Phineas and Ferb stuff. While, it is nice to see Phineas and Ferb stuff being incorporated into the park, I didn't think the "radio spots" really did much for the event. It was kind of a story clash. Here I am mesmerized by millions of lights and I had to try to focus on what they were saying to figure out what was going on. So, I didn't care much for them, but I'm sure other people, especially the kids would love it.

Otherwise, the lights were spectacular as always. I found the purple Halloween cat pretty easily this year. PM me if you want hints, but I will NOT be giving away where exactly it is located.

I didnt see this posted, but there does seem to be something NEW this year. Maybe I've never noticed this in the past years.

A friend went to the cast preview last night, and returned with paper "3d" glasses. I guess these are supposed to enhance the lights and make the shimmer more. Some kind of added effect it seems.

That's not new. Those were free in previous years and last year they were selling them. There's no significant effect, looks a bit like a dizzying mess when you put them on.

I'm totally gonna do that in 6 days from now WOOOHOOO that looks so fun !
The lights officially come on at "dusk" which is is typically around 6:00pm during most of it's run. Again there is no set time, it could be 6:05pm on one night, and 6:14pm on the very next night.

The switch is at the intersection of New York and San Fransisco between the "Public Library" and the "Chevrolet Building". To be honest, you don't need to see the switch. Not to ruin the magic, but it isn't THE actual switch, but whenever it is flipped on or off, the lights do follow suit. I would quite honestly be looking at the street and the lights. They typically count down anyways so looking AT the switch isn't needed.

If you are looking for good spots, San Fransisco street and the Town Square (near the LMA entrance) are usually less crowded.

Also, if anyone is wondering, it only "snows" during the non-dancing songs.

Finally, the lights will typically always run for at least 1 full hour (the entire song playlist loop) before the park closes. On most nights, they will also keep them on another full hour after park closing, but it isn't advertised and isn't guaranteed. So if the park closes at 7pm. The lights will typically be on from 6pm to 8pm.

I personally can't wait for this to start up again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVh0_mFlNwg

Will the Globe rotate this year?

I ask because when I was there last year the Globe did not rotate. In past years it did rotate. Any news on this?

We're wondering if the Lights stay on during EMH?

For instance, the normal Studios closing hours is 8PM.

So, do the Osborne lights stay lit during a portion, or all, or any of the EMH until 11PM???

Yes, they stay on during EMH. They will turn off promptly at the end of EMH though. Previously in this thread, I noted that they stay on an hour after park close, this is still true except on hard closes for special events and on EMH nights.

Interesting that Phineas and Ferb have been incorporated into this year's lights. But awesome too! Can't wait to see it tomorrow night.
