Greetings all from the geek labs…
Checking in with another trip report. This time I took in the opening weekend events for the Epcot Flower and Garden show 2004
I must say I felt this year’s show was very well done. One problem I felt last year was the over abundance of vendors and artists (don’t get me wrong I totally support them) but last year it just seemed you couldn’t step 5 feet and you ran into a stand.
The garden work and topiaries are very well done this year. The water feature that was reported earlier this week appears to be “temporary” and just for the garden show. The crowds where not bad at Epcot. I saw wait times for the major attractions i.e. Mission:SPACE and Test Track at around or exceeding 70 minutes.
Speaking of Test Track it appeared around 3ish the ride went down (yes I know shocking) and by the time I had stopped by and spoke with a CM it had been down for over an hour. A technical difficulty is all I found out was the cause. When I left the M:S gift shop they had test cars running on the track but the main gates where still closed to guests.
This weekends Garden Professional/Speaker was The Gardener Guy himself Paul James (which I am a huge fan of) I took in his 2pm question and answer section. He answered many questions including mine. He then had a meet and greet (autograph section) after his time on stage. Which of course I got my autograph.
I then walked over to where Soarin’ is still steadily going strong. I noticed the side closes to the Imagination area has a large blue tarp covering part of the roof. I know many have talked about the size of the building and is it affecting Canada’s look. I walked through Canada and the only place you can really see the Soarin’ building is when going into the Canada film. Which I believe could be easily covered by more mountain range added to the backdrop.
Walking around world showcase looking at the different garden and topiaries most back in the different countries are the same from previous years. The newer topiaries are at the front of Epcot when you walk in through the main gates. These topiaries have some gorgeous details down to the eyes of the characters. The fab 5 are the featured topiaries in the main garden (leave a legacy area) Where the fountain of the worlds is they have a huge topiary and at the top everyone’s favorite little fairy Tinkerbell. When the sun was going down they have lights that run up to her and her wings twinkle.
Wonders of Life pavilion was open and it is sad to see how few people go into that pavilion now. The World of Energy still carries the Exxon logo’s (I thought that was over with and Exxon was out??)
American Adventures main hall was closed off today for a private event (I am thinking some prom type deal since a ton of chartered buses and stretched limos and hummers where parked in the Amazed parking lot when I was leaving)
All around I think this year’s Flower and Garden was very nice. If you can make it I wouldn’t miss it!
Now to go work on 140+ pictures to send in. Till then take care and see you at the parks.
