I miss Orlando radio, I remember there were SOOOO many stations to choose from. (Unlike up here :( )

Not true...the radio stations in Orlando are all owned by Clear Channel and or Communications....cant go into many deatils here...as they are affiliates of the company I work for....but...its all the same cookie cutter, voice tracked(automated), stations. What you hear in Orlando is playing in LA, NY, and even KISS FM here in Chicago.....

Radio here in the Windy City may be bad....but, be happy with what you have...gawd knows I am......Go up to Milwaukee or Down to Orlando...big diffrence in quality compared to Chicago..ie. Less automation here in Chicago...and more independent thought....
ok..i am ranting on the evils of the FCC's deregulation of the radio industry...Cheap...uh..I mean...Clear Channel ownes it all (mostly) now cause of it...and the DJ is a dying breed...being replaced by an "Audio Vault" system....or some DJ in Dallas or LA is recording his show for 10 other cities....ok..I'm done.:)

Yeah, over here in Tampa we're an "origin" city, so we get real DJ's, it's jsut the other cities who hear us who don't... too bad for them, good for me :)

I know I am so sick of clear channel they have taken over the country. Even in my parents small town in Ohio. KISS FM in cleveland has the same morning show as many of the other Kiss FM stations across the country. Uggh sorry had to vent as well

:sohappy: :sohappy: NO VENT !!!! Its a good thing~~!!!

Let me quess....Valentine in the Morning? He is on here in Chicago and LA!..and about like 50 other cities....and he is sooooo bad....the computer is sooo screwey.....it fires the song early and he steps all over it......computer fires commerical set....he..er I mean his Voicetrack steps all over the spots.....and the levels are soooo bad......what a Train wreck  ...but I think Valentine is out the door here now...I am not sure..but I know the ratings plummeted...and our KISS will now have a live local morning show....cause...voice tracking is such a HUGE failure in the nations 3rd largest market...Ha ha ha hahahahaha...oh..sorry for the evil laughter and venting.... :)

XM..my next car will have XM Satellite Radio.....no more 20 minute commerical breaks for me :hurl:..its worth the 10 bucks a month.... :)

Yes Valentine LOL!! I want XM as well, got to check out the systems. They also have Carsons countdown. I miss my college station in Ohio. They had the best variety of music because they weren't under control of the record companies. And the only commerical to speak of was one every hour, and it sponsored the whole hour. But of course they cannot broadcast it over the internet now :(

We have some radio stations with real djs in the area, but the number of radio stations is not very many once you get south of the midpoint of the state on the coast....

My favorite indie station was sold almost two years ago, and I still can't get over the heartbreak. Now, they claim to be "modern rock," but I find them playing Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Eminem.... What exactly is that an alternative to? Static? I happen to like Tom Petty and Bruce, but if I want to hear that, I'll turn on a classic rock station!

Sorry to vent. :(
