Welcome Back Favorite Entertainment Spectaculars at Disneyland Resort This Fall

With the dazzling Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration coming to a close on September 5, we’re pleased to announce that this fall will see the return of two favorite nighttime spectaculars.

At Disney California Adventure park, the original version of “World of Color” will be presented, beginning September 6, with all the great sequences of Disney animation and music you remember, from WALL-E and Eve zipping through the cosmos to Pocahontas exploring just around the riverbend.

Across the Esplanade at Disneyland park, you’ll once again be able to enjoy the timeless soundtrack of Disney’s “Fantasy in the Sky” fireworks spectacular when it lights up the sky overSleeping Beauty Castle Friday through Sunday evenings starting September 9. Versions of “Fantasy in the Sky” date back to 1958, when Walt Disney envisioned the show as a spectacular “kiss goodnight” for his Disneyland guests.

“World of Color” and “Fantasy in the Sky” will each be presented through the early November kickoff of Holidays at the Disneyland Resort. So go ahead and plan your visit, and get your nostalgia on!

If they bring back the actual original WOC (Hellfire and Bald Mountain included, no Brave) I'll be so unbelievably happy.
With today's Disney, expect the expected. Probably going to be the version shown before the switch to Celebrate.

I'm going to miss hearing "Forever Young" be played. I know WOC Celebrate isn't the best version of WOC. But at least the Forever Young segment that showed Disneyland over the past 60 years actually focused on Disneyland.

Will we still hear the "lets all go to Disneyland" song to kick people of the park?

Really? It's kind of an IP mishmash and doesn't utilize the fountains like the original. Plus all that boring NPH talking stuff. It was nice to have something different for the 60th, but I won't miss it (except the "Disneyland" post-show of course ;))
For me, at least Celebrate had a story. Original WOC was so watered down by executive meddling that by the time the show premiered it was a 30-minute "look how great we are" infomercial with no story at all. I feel like story is what sets Disney apart from the rest, so the original show kinda disappointed me in that regard.

Yep. I'm not really a fan of the original. It's just movie clips. I felt there was more of a central point with Celebrate, more of a story, if you will. I love NPH's commentary, I felt it added to the "story."

In my opinion, Celebrate fit the 60th better than both Paint the Night and Forever. I'm going to miss it.

I've only seen Celebrate in person, but have seen the original online. I like Celebrate's story and emotion. It had a lot of wow and excitement to it. I also like NPH so he didn't bother me and his love of Disney I thought flew off the water, lol. The problem with it though was that for all the wow, it seemed like they had the fountains on full blast 90% of the time with non stop projections. In that regard I think the original lacked the wow, but was far more artistic with a much more manicured approach to fountain usage that looked really pleasing to the eye. In the original you could actually appreciate the look and usage of each individual fountain instead of just a wall of water. The flow often seemed disjointed though as clips were just swapped in and out, but it was artistically nice and used the fountains more effectively with a more toned down focus on the projections.
