original tiki room

You are entitled to your opinion, I just imagine you are in the minority on these boards.

I wasn't in love with the old version, but I think the new version is horrible.

Then there's at least 2 of us.
I much prefer the new version. The old version was extremely boring.
They changed it because it was empty all the time. People seem to forget that part though.

I actually liked the newer version more than the original. I dont think its that great either, but Id pick it over the original. However, having seen the original in Disneyland it still packs in quite a few people. The show I was in was mostly people trying to catch a few ZZs as it was late, but still I remember seeing many people in the preshow area during the day.

I wish it could get a nice long refurb and redone completely. Make the outside more open and noticeable like Disneyland's. Then create an entire new show inside (keeping with the same theme, just new songs and special effects). I would love to see the Tiki Gardens.

I created a concept for a wonderful Christmas overlay, but they don't like to close down their rides for overlays in WDW (see Haunted Mansion and Country Bear)

Funny how the east coast and west coast is so different. Wasn't the original WDW version the same as the DL version. I know the reason the MK was changed to the under new management was due to lack of crowds. But I remember hearing that the DL version is almost always full even with DL being a more regional park.

One of the only good things about WDW version is that my kids get a free souvenier when Iaago looses some feathers at the end of the show.

Does tiki take up a large space? Demo it and hopefully Aladdin goes when dumbo 2 comes out like we've heard before and maybe we can get another e-ticket for AL.... :goodnevil

Yes it is very funny and yes the entire time I was in DL in May it always was full. Also Mr. Toads Wild Ride had an averaget wait time of 25 minutes while I was there. It loads slower than the one in WDW did but a CM told me it is still popular out there.

Not the best attraction in the joint, but it isn't THAT bad. It's always full every time I see it. My daughter (7) loved it. I thought is dark and cool (as in NOT hot). I think it's definitely better than the old version.... at least for me.

Then again, I wish they would demo Jungle Cruise (tired old ride) and give us the Indy ride.

Popular in DL does not necessarily equal popularity in WDW. They are 2 different parks with 2 different demographics. Tiki was changed for the same reason Mr. Toad's was changed....low guest counts. They added popular characters at the time and the guest numbers increased. Unfortunately the attraction has become stale again and another change is in order but I do not see them going back to the original. If anything I seem them going the direction of Tokyo but even that ship might have sailed.

I wish they would change the tiki room back to the original, but I doubt that they will. I was never really head over heels with the old show, but I hate the new one. I use that show to get in out of the heat and cool down, or to get out of the rain.

I'll never forget the amazement I found in the original as a kid. The window scenes coming to life fascinated me. Totally unexpected. The decorations and tiki's around the room coming to life surprised me. It was pure Disney Magic.

I still see some of the same amazement in first time visitors. If only the current version wasn't so annoying.
