Original Fort Wilderness cabin question? Were they Airstreams?/

Hello all,

I just spent the week tent camping at Fort Wilderness and had a blast. While we were there my Dad visited and told us that when Fort Wilderness opened the cabins were all Airstream trailers. He had mentioned this before and I looked into it and asked around and everyone said that the cabins that were there up to just a couple years ago were the original cabins.

Can anyone prove that they were or were not Airstreams?

Thanks for your help.

The current cabins are just simple trailers with a fake wood covering to make them look like a cabin. I have no idea if these are the originals or not though.

Not that i can remember. Disney has always had a connection with Fleetwood trailers. In the old days you could rent a 4 or 6 person travel trailer. Then they went to travel trailers and the small mobile homes, then to just mobile homes. In fact in the 90s across from Pioneer Hall there is a small area that looks like it has a walkway through the fence and a small flat area (it is still there). This area use to have a very high end travel trailer for the guests to look the latest and greatest Fleetwood trailer. Back then the trailers/mobile homes were only a little over $100 a night and camp sites were something like $49 for a preferred site.

It is pretty hard if not impossible to prove a negative (ie prove there is no Bigfoot)

However......

It is pretty easy to prove a positive. Ft Wilderness had 10 Airstreams in 1973.
