It is not, it looks like it’s part of the plans as there is a walking path that goes from the tri circle D ranch towards wilderness lodge but it stops near the backstage road. Hopefully one day, miss renting bikes and visiting the other resorts.Has the walkway to Wilderness Lodge been reopened as well? About a month ago, it was still closed because of the Reflections construction walls.
The main construction site is still all walls, but happy to see they spent the money to redo this area and reopen it to guest access.Wow. I didn't know the walls were still up. I assumed they pulled them down when they cancelled the DVC project.
This was waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy overdue. Thanks for the update.
100% agreed. DH and I have been lobbying to get that trail back. It seems it's falling on deaf ears, but we'll continue to let them know.Excellent news! Sadly a ton of beautiful trees were lost and the character of the Settlement forever changed during the misguided Reflections debacle. But good news is good news, and the restoration is a welcome move on WDWs part.
Now, the remainder of the construction walls should be removed, the lawn near Pioneer Hall restored and the trail between FW and WL reopened. Fort Wilderness is truly one of the Crown Jewels of WDW. The property and its guests deserve better than the mess that the Reflections project inflicted.
If they were smart, they would buy an on road train similar to a tram and run it between FW and WL. The train would of course be done in Disney fasion.Excellent news! Not a bad idea, but by rail or trail, part of the fun at the Fort was the ability to rent bikes (or surrey bikes, or bring your own) and travel the trail to/from the WL during time away from the Type-A atmosphere of the theme parks. Such a peaceful and scenic route with plenty of opportunities to see deer and other wildlife. Definitely part of the "charm" element that should be restored post haste. If they were smart, they would buy an on road train similar to a tram and run it between FW and WL. Not sure this would fly as many people now rent golf carts or bring their own. But it would be an economical replacement to the FWRR train from the late 70s.
The mouse boats are still gone? Are they not coming back? Not a bad idea, but by rail or trail, part of the fun at the Fort was the ability to rent bikes (or surrey bikes, or bring your own) and travel the trail to/from the WL during time away from the Type-A atmosphere of the theme parks. Admittedly, a train would also be kind of cool though. Maybe along an alternate path? (Side note: I'm kind of glad they killed off the Wilderness Junction plans back in the day-- it would have made the area between the two much too frenetic IMHO.)
In any case, right now with the smaller boats between FW, WL and the Contemporary down, the only option to travel between FW and WL is by bus-- and that kills a LOT of the immersion and fun. Note to Disney: Bring back the smaller boats AND the trail ASAP!
Not sure about the water mice (small 2-person boats) but it looks like they're missing from the dock entirely from the OPs pics. I was talking about what I believe are called the "Blue Flag" boats, the Willy Wonka-esque ones that make the internal transportation circuit between the three resorts. Miss both actually. The water mice (sprites) days were awesome, cruising Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon. You used to see tons of them on the water. Not sure but maybe they've eliminated those completely? The mouse boats are still gone? Are they not coming back?
