I don't care one way or the other. I saw the original for almost 3 decades and although it fit the timeframe, I can't say that if they had started with the current one I wouldn't like that one more as well. The first was done comically as was the entire ride, but it didn't significantly change the general feel of the ride. Remember back when the pirates used to chase the wenches around in those circles? No! I didn't think so, but they did and it didn't really alter anything. It just moved the scene in a different comical way. Now it is offensive to males. Not that we really care, it's just a caricature presentation.

the real buried lead is that DA RED'ED was already wearing red from head to toe and was pretty nonchalant about the entire endevour, which implies some pretty strong things about what she was up to before the pirates came to town

Well, I just have to wonder what recovering alcoholics think about that scene these days... they'd be among the first to tell you that chronic drunkenness is not funny in the least.

Perhaps executives in the ABC/Disney Corporation should consider how this ride's depiction of alcohol abuse might (a) discourage and offend recovering alcoholics and (b) encourage and glamorize problematic alcohol consumption among the very susceptible and naive children and young adults visiting this attraction.

Alcohol Use Disorder is officially considered a disease. How long will Disney continue satirizing and making fun of people suffering from it?

Also what about the kids that see Captain Jack Sparrow at the end sitting in the pile of gold? To me that's Disney saying to kids "Ahoy there young mateys, go around plunderin and you'll have a great reward just like me". And as for those poor pirates being chased by the women, it just reeks of "Listen ladies, Disney believes it's ok to physically chase men if you wish"

One time after riding pirates and driving back to our place, my wife demanded that "We stop at Walmart". No asking nicely, just outright instructed me to stop at Walmart. I think we can all agree it's a direct result of seeing that scene in pirates where the woman were chasing the men. I may sue Disney if anyone can recommend a good lawyer?

In fairness I do believe her fishnet stockings were black ..................................................... not that I specifically noticed that or anything 😉
