IMHO it's just like the whole M&G thing, people are just celebrity crazy. Disney capitalizes on what's popular and celebs are popular. Why risk something original when everyone in your target audience already knows who Lightening McQueen is and wants to see him?

I guess sticking with established character theming also sells a lot more in the giftshop.
Just look at how much busier Tatooine Traders or even the Muppets giftshop is compared to Space Mountain or BTMRR.

This gripe comes up a lot around here. Don’t forget that when Walt was designing Disneyland, the lands were chosen to complement what was airing on in his TV series at the time. Adventureland and the True Life Adventures, Frontierland and Davy Crockett, etc. So if Walt was doing it, have things really changed all that much?

You have it backwards. Disneyland had those segments because those were the lands of the under-construction Disneyland.

You should clarify that you mean the TV show Disneyland which later became known as Walt Disney Presents and other names (not going to list them all).

Yah, I realized that after I left the office for lunch. I knew someone would correct me by the time I got back to correct it. :p I’m having a bad day and it’s only 1pm.

Disney is fairly equal on Franchise and non Franchise items in my heart.

Non
Animal Kingdom

Dinosaur
KS
EE
KRR
Wildlife Express
Primaval Whirl
Triceratop Spin (although they are not the most creative.... Those toast 3...)

DHS
RnR
ToT
backlot
GMR
animation studio
One Mans dream (Its about Walt not characters)

Epcot... Here we go, there is a lot......
SSE
UoE
Caption EO (though no creativity there :Vomit:)
Innovations
Soarin' (If they dare add 'planes' to this ride, I might just quit going to Disney.)
The Lands
The Seas Pavilion which is not themed to Nemo
MS
Test Track
Imagination
All WS pavilion except Mexico....so +10

MK
Space Mountain
Tiki Room
Jungle Cruise
People Mover
CoP
IASW
Train
Entire Mainstreet is an attraction on its own...
HM
PotC

That's about 43 attraction there..... Plus you have 2 water parks with no character relation hardly at all.

Franchise
MK
Laugh Floor
Stitch
Buzz
Pooh
Peter
Little Mermaid
Treehouse
Beauty and the Beast
Philiharmagic

DHS
Indian Jones
Lights camera Action
Little Mermaid show
Fantastmic
Toy story Mania
Muppets

Epcot
Nemo
Mexico
Circle of life...

AK
It's tough to be a bug
Nemo the Musical

That's only about 20...

If I forgot a ride, sorry I was going at the top of my head.... I was showing the amount of rides that do not relate to a movie. The number is still extremely high...

I still that feel Disney has things equal....
