My opinion about the Speedway is that it brings back too many memories for me to put it on the chopping block, however, it does take up a lot of prime real estate, and if replaced, who knows what it could be? The motors bother me too. How long of a line does it usually get now? I haven't ridden it in a few years

I usually see it between 15 and 40 minutes, depending on the time of the day

I would be upset if it leaves, but if it's replacement still honors the legacy of the TSW then I'll be fine. A great Example of this is at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, the Big Bad Wolf, with it's Iconic river drop, closed. It's replacement has pretty much the same drop, Keeping the legacy of the BBW intact. Even If it's something as subtle as a reference in the Queue, it still works

For the longest time I've wanted the Tomorrowland Speedway demolished because I think fumes-belching gasoline cars riding around on a highway seems so out of place in "Tomorrowland". The highways remind me of the 50s and 60s.

But I actually think the Speedway could stay if they rethemed it to Wreck It Ralph's Sugar Rush video game.

The video game characters fit with Tomorrowland. Sugar Rush is set in a fantasy world with candy mountains and forests...and Imagineers could transition that nicely into Wonderland by the Tea Cups and the Dumbo's Circus area too (since it uses bright colors as well).

The cars could be remade into Sugar Rush candy/cookie vehicles. It could all be very darling...and would be a nice bridge between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland.

Aside from this, I think the Speedway should be demolished and rebuilt at either DHS or EPCOT. In either instance, I think it would be fun to retheme it to Cars 2 and an international Grand Prix. At DHS, this could be a ride that sits next to RSR and it would be for kids to pretend to be riding around in cars that were just learning how to drive (and thus needed the kids' help) before they "graduated" to being RSR cars.

At EPCOT, an international grand prix sure would fit in just fine with the country pavilions. And along the route there would be all sorts of miniature world landmarks with fun themed areas. You could work in all the countries that people have always wanted to see in EPCOT but we know will never get real pavilions. Could be a lot of fun.

So, the people who say their children love the go-carts at the Speedway most of all can still experience these...but with some tweaks.

I really like the Sugar Rush rethemeing idea the more I think about it. I never thought I would change my mind and want the Speedway to stay...but if they would rework it as Sugar Rush (and they could even name it that!) then I would think it was delightful.

This is an awesome Idea! and a great example to what I mean in my previous post

How can you not love the original Tomorrowland entrance with the towers and waterfalls? So awesome.

Retro has been in, so why not revert the Tomorrowlands into a retro throwback theme, spacemen and all. The current Sci-Fi look is kinda ugly depending on my mood. I still don't know why there are Big Thunder rocks at the entrance. In the future there will be southwestern red rocks? Whatevs.

Tomorrowland '95 was cool, but now more than 20 years later, much of it is gone. In its place, deteriorating attractions, broken effects, Pixar and forgotten animated characters.

"Sugar Rush" really is a perfect transition between "Fantasy" and "Technology"...ie, "Tomorrow".

I didn't think I would like Wreck it Ralph because I've never played video games and my only knowledge of them comes from buying Nintendo stuff for my son when he was younger...but I found the whole "Sugar Rush" world to be very charming.

Just imagine all the potential for confection sales there...with peppermint scent in the air and various other lures driving people to pastry shops overlooking the 'Sugar Rush" raceway.

And the merchandise potential would be epic...with kids being able to have a "Build a Droid" type experience building their own little Sugar Rush race car they could take home.

A fun thought for the future is that maybe one day Disney will do an animated Hansel & Gretle cartoon...and then a witch's gingerbread house could be built just off Sugar Rush in the entry to Fantasyland...so the them could be further reinforced down the road with the thought in mind that someday Disney will indeed make a Hansel & Gretle cartoon.

If it were up to me we'd get something more like Discoveryland, but that'll never happen, sadly.

I've always felt Tomorrowland is the most boring aspect visually of the Magic Kingdom, a shame really.

To my knowledge Tomorrowland is the same size as it's always been.

Tomorrowland used to have a large area at the bottom which was a stage area for shows and events but this was removed the other year. A small area around the old Skyway station was removed and I think that the Tomorrowland Speedway track was shortened slightly to make way for Storybook Circus.

I love the current "future that never was" theme. I think though that nearly 20 years later, some updates can be made to bring things more to life. While I love the neon in Tomorrowland at night, there are so many new lighting effects, especially with LEDs that can be achieved now. I'd also like to the existing paint to be shinier or sleeker. The current color schemes seem dated in a bad way. I think the rest of the land needs to be improved upon to match the front of Tomorrowland too. I also think we need more details to tell the story. Many of these details have left over the years. Bring back the thriving Metropolis theme. I wouldn't mind seeing more futuristic billboards with funny puns and futuristic graphics. I want keep the metallic aspects while introducing more interesting futuristic textures and materials.

As for the attractions, Stitch needs to leave. CoP needs a HUGE refresh. Buzz needs to be cleaned up just a bit. Speedway needs to be updated or removed. Space could use some new touches here and there. TTA could use a new spiel and if possibly (not sure with ADA laws), new trains and new show scenes. Astro needs a major thematic clean up refurbishment, and I'm torn about Monsters.

I think one of the big issues with Tomorrowland is that many of the buildings have limited purposes and any major building construction or demolition may end up affecting the fate of the Peoplemover since it touches every single attraction in Tomorrowland.

I personally think the Discoveryland asthetics would make Tomorrowkand look far more timeless and interesting. I don't think that means you have to eliminate Buzz and Space Mountain or anything...it would just make the land look so much more pleasing to the eye, and I really think it wouldn't become outdated so quickly. Seriously - look at Disneyland Paris...20+ years and the land still looks futuristic.
Tomorrowland in the MK or Disneyland...dated.

For people who don't know what Discoveryland looks like:

Disney uses trackless technology for many rides over in Asia. They should consider replacing the Speedway with new trackless/electric vehicles. I always thought the concept for Aquatopia was interesting, although it's a pretty strange and pointless attraction. If they were to use the trackless concept with Autopia vehicles, they could have an awesome attraction.

The purists would have heart attacks if "Tomorrowland's" name changed.

I think "Discoveryland" works a lot better, in terms of concept. You could then theme it with the steam punk Jules Verne stuff and allow all sorts of permanent things in there that would never have to be updated to keep it looking "Tomorrow".

But, then again, you could also just remake the whole thing like Buck Rogers-style and rebuild those original entrance pylons and it would always be "tomorrow", since the world is never going to look like that. The Discoveryland stuff feels more fun and accessible, though.

The chrome and white Buck Rogers future is cold to me...like walking around in a person's house who has all white carpeting and you are afraid to touch or spill anything. Not my idea of fun.

There are so many interesting things that could be done with "Discoveryland" though. It also fits better with the other lands, too...Fantasy...Adventure...Discovery...and then you have the historic looks back like Frontierland and Liberty Square.

Just the fact that we Disney fans can have a long and interesting discussion about what should be done with Tomorrowland sure indicates there are a lot of possibilities out there...and also that there really does need to be something done with this part of the parks. I've never seen any discussions about Adventureland or Frontierland as involved or lengthy as those about Tomorrowland.

It really seems to me like people want something done there, even if they don't know for sure WHAT they want to be done.

The longer I think on it the more I think "Discoveryland" grows on me...but I am still at the point where I would hate to see "Tomorrowland" go.
