I was just wondering how many of you really like that stupid sign that they put on top of Spaceship Earth. You know the giant Mickey hand that says Epcot. I think it looks cheesy. I say for all the people who like old school Epcot we take it down. Bring back some classic WDW.

Now THERE'S a cause that i'm ALL for!! :sohappy: yeah, i hate that stupid sign. it was great during the millenium celebration and all, but i don't need a sign to tell me where i am. actually, there's been several threads over this topic...course, you're new here, so i, personally, don't expect you to know that we actually get about an equal amount of people who love it or oppose it...i vote that we take it down, though.

Hey, the sign doesn't bother me, I don't bother it. It didn't replace anything, It is capable of being removed. I'm totally Neutral on the subject, protest or protect if you want, I will be one of the ones walking by the sign headed toward M:S.

I'm in favor of this so much I'd climb SE myself and knock it all down.

It really looks dumb. I'd much prefer SE to go back the way it was. There doesn't need to be a big "Epcot" sign over it. we know it's Epcot. And besides, it just looks out of place.

The Sign on Spaceship Earth is great. I love it. It brings life to the Ball, instead of just that white golf ball. O yea it dosn't look cheesy either, Disney did a great thing in what they did.

Well I guess we're all entitled to our own opinion, but I think it DOES look cheesy and it should be removed! Have fun at WDW.

Oh yeah.....I kinda like the hand! It adds much needed whimsy and color!

Seeing as it's called Spaceship Earth, I always wondered why they didn't just make it look like a big globe and attach the continents to the outside of it? Then, they would not have needed the hand to decorate their golf ball!

Personally im biased on the sign. It is nice to see at night when you are sitting on your porch at the boardwalk. Im for old school Disney, I miss the old rides but i love some of the new stuff too.

Well, heck, since it looks sorta like a space ship launching tower, maybe we can just attach a big rocket to it and send it on its merry way into outer space. Then it'll truly be the "space" part of Spaceship Earth.

wasnt the year 2000 like 2 years ago? just so you guys know im kidding, im up for some new lighting effects but the hand has to go, unless they plan on adding all the parts and turing it into a huge bionic mickey that would be different

I don't mind it being up there. I think it does look more professional without the hand and the sign, but whatever Disney wants is fine with me.

I actually cancelled a trip with my (at the time) girlfriend over this. She had never been to Disney World before, and I was not about to spend the money for her to miss out on the experience. The girls I know who have never been usually want to see "Mickey" and "The castle". The castle just isn't appealing as a giant cake top. :hurl: :hurl: :hurl:

they should do something about the castle in disneyland paris, how excited do you think they get over a castle in europe?? they have them coming out the

I don't really like it that much but it's not taking away from my expeirence at Epcot so I don't really mind it being there. I would like it better if it weren't there but I don't really care that it is there. Hey maybe Disney could sell it on Ebay and get some major $$$$$!

Why do you think that they designed it the way that they did? It's completely different from all of the other Disney castles. It's much more of a fantasy castle, and to my mind (even though I haven't seen it in person) the most beautiful of all of the Disney castles. They knew that they had to compete with all of the real castles within easy travel distance, so they set out to blow them all away.
