News Operating hours of various Animal Kingdom attractions being reduced

Trimming the budget up top and working around EDT->EST & sunset on the bottom. I don't see anything too outrageous going on.

As for KRR, it's not as hot as over the summer; I suspect attendance does drop over the holidays (does SM in MK cut back also?).

That said, less hours on any ride stinks. Especially with the dearth of open attractions once the sun does set to begin with.

And getting too cold for krr
As for KRR, it's not as hot as over the summer.

And yet the same company keeps Grizzly River Run operating at Disney California Adventure until park closing at 10pm or Midnight seven days per week through October and November. Grizzly River Run has three additional minutes of ride time compared to Kali, has two drops instead of one, and can get riders substantially wetter because of that. And at DCA there are 16 other operating rides besides Grizzly River Run to choose from, whereas at Animal Kingdom there are 8 other operating rides besides Kali River Rapids to choose from.

In 2017 the unofficially official park attendance was 12.5 Million at Animal Kingdom and 9.6 Million at California Adventure.

A look at average temps is also helpful, as it's noticeably cooler in Anaheim, especially at night;

Anaheim, CA October Average High 82 Average Low 58
Orlando FL October Average High 84 Average Low 68

Anaheim, CA November Average High 75 Average Low 52
Orlando, FL November Average High 78 Average Low 60

Anaheim, CA December Average High 70 Average Low 47
Orlando, FL December Average High 73 Average Low 54

None of those facts point to any reason why Animal Kingdom would purposely shut down Kali River Rapids before park close each night at 7:30pm, while the same company keeps Grizzly River Run operating until park closing at 10:00pm or later on the exact same days this fall.

Not trying to pick on you two fellow Disney friends, just trying to point out that there's obviously something going on here with WDW management business decisions. ;)

Purely budgets. Sigh. it is a true shame that, ironically, Animal Kingdom seems to have been the chosen beast of burden for a large number of these cuts. Office politics is a factor nonetheless.
I will say though, when Park A has bloated budgets, Park B is in season, Park C has started shifting towards efficient budgets from its inefficient past, and Park D has had some of the smoother operational budgets over the years, it is obvious where cuts will be seen and felt the most.

I agree that the park has become awesome at night. I understand the trails being closed and even the late openings due to the early Pandora rush and the long walk to the back of the park. But certainly not the early KS closing - one of the best attractions on property. And the site that shall not be named says Dinosaur will also close early. Lines in Dinoland are short at night but really is it so horrible for people to have a short wait for a pretty good ride every once in a while?

Is this a partial throw in of the towel on the nighttime safari? I thought there had been alot of complaints on how the lighting package wasn't a real success.

That rubs it in quite nicely.

Blatant cuts, blatant nickel & diming.

Prices continue to rise, some attractions and exhibits cut back to the hours of a bank branch, with Rafiki out of commission for an extended period. What a joke.

Disney basically thinks they’re a bank at this point. They’re open as few hours as possible (with minimal staff) they charge fees wherever they can, they want you to do everything yourself online and they insist that if you keep giving them money it’s a good long term investment.

They’re also too big to fail.
