oops, messed up on port arrival time...

Ok, so we are taking our second cruise - this time out of NYC. Our first cruise a couple of years ago was after a WDW stay, so our transportation was handled by Disney.

Our cruise is in a few weeks, and I finally got around to getting the passports out and doing online check in. We were planning on getting to the terminal fairly early, and in fact have already arranged transportation that will get us there by 11:00.

But, when the Port Arrival screen came up, my earliest choice was 1:00. Am I screwed? Or will we be able to check in before 1:00? The DH is going to be upset with me.....

depends on how busy the terminal is. If things are chill, they will leave people board earlier than their scheduled time. But really you don't lose by having a later boarding time.. simply less time on the boat.

We're one of those psychotic families who wants to board as early as possible. Fortunately, as a Platinum Castaway Club member, we don't have to get an assigned boarding time. We just show up and they give us the earliest available boarding.

I don't know how they will handle the boarding process in NYC. If it were Port Canaveral, I would just say to show up whatever time you want and just hang out till 1. But I doubt the NYC terminal will be as nice to hang out in as the Port Canaveral building. That's not very helpful, sorry

I'm psychotic like that too. .

In Port Canaveral if you arrive earlier than your selected arrival time, you are usually let inside as long as the terminal isn't full. You are given a higher boarding number.

In New York there have been reports of people being held outside is they arrive early. Having said that, I probably would go around noon. There's a chance they'll keep you outside, but there's also a good chance that they will be in open boarding by then and you'll right inside.

Thanks for the help everybody. We were able to get our transportation pushed back an hour, so will we arrive closer to noon.
Next time I will certainly remember to check in as early as possible!
