Online Check-In Service

Yep, I did it back in May & it was great. They had the package put together with all our paper work, the only thing they did was activate the room keys and verify who I was.

Yes it is worth it. It will lessen the amount of tie you will spend checking into your resort.

I would...I however had a bad experience and took much longer than the regular check-in line, but that was due to an unforeseeable computer problem. When I arrived, there was a large line for check-in, but no line for the online check-in. It definitely will save you time (assuming no computer problems).

Does anyone know if they have a place where you can put room requests in when you check in on-line??? I have heard conflicting reports... Some say there is and other say there was not. Appreciate any feedback from those who have checked in on-line recently. Thanks! :animwink:

I also wonder if anyone has or has not gotten their request met when using this. I have requested 50's section and close to pool at Pop on our next trip. I'm hesitant that online check in my not fulfill requests.

It should not make a difference. If anything online might even be better as you are entering the information and not requiring a CM at the DRC to do it. As a general rule the requests that do not get honored are the one that are either impossible (ie near the elevator with a party of 5 at PORS) or are too specific (ie Room 2401). Regardless of all this special requests should be made when you are making your reservation and not at the time of check in. If you wait until then there is little that can be done.

Thanks!!! I also requested to stay in either the 50's, building 1 or 3 or the 70's section at POP. I have made my requests already. Just thought that maybe reentering them when checking in on-line would be beneficial to getting the request met.

To my knowledge there is not trick to getting your requests honored. There may have been some in the past but it seems like Disney has tried to remove as many of these as possible and make the whole precess pretty fair and blind. From what was told to me medical reasons will get the first look and from there it goes in order of the date the request was made. Faxes, phone calls etc are no longer accepted. Everything must go through the DRC. If you call the resort directly you are transferred to the DRC and faxes hit the circular file.

While I often use self-service options when they're available (especially at places like car rental counters where there's a big push to upsell), I actually purposely did *not* use online check-in on my trip last month.

The checkin at a Disney resort is one thing that I enjoy having some interaction with a human, even if it does take longer. (Yes, I realize that you do interact with a person in the online check-in line) Last fall we had a great experience with a CM at checkin at Pop Century. He was very funny, personable, and made for a great start to our vacation. That wold have been something we would have missed had online checkin been available and we'd used it.

So with that in mind, I decided to not do online checking for my most recent trip. When we checked into Pop Century last month, we'd been assigned a room on the far end of Building 7, when I'd put a request on the reservation for building 10, 9 or 6. When I inquired about changing rooms, the CM checked the computer, made a quick phone call, and was able to move us to a first-floor room in Building 6 that was a great location. I'm not sure that this could have been done in the online checkin line, and even if it could, I would be holding up the people in line behind me who were just planning on grabbing their packet and going.

I have been lucky and been upgraded the last two times I've been to WDW. What's the likelihood of being upgraded when you check in online? Anyone have an upgrade happen to them this way?

Upgrades are done solely based on operational needs of the resort so the chances should be the same.
