I'm actually fine with the sofa bed. And I'm the one sleeping on it! What needs to happen is that every sofa bed must be like the ones in Bay Lake or Aulani or Grand Californian. And we have an air mattress, so my brother and I don't have to share the sofa bed. We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian in Waikiki in 2012, and the sofa bed there was awful. I mean, I woke up with a backache and ended up trading with my brother (he was on a pull away). I told him he could have the bigger bed if he traded with me. I was happy when we finally switched to Aulani on that trip. Disney beds are comparitively great. Heck, my aunt snored so bad when we had the two bedroom in Hilton Head that I let my brother have the bed and I took the sofa bed (yeah, I pick. Part of being the oldest, I tell him I was on this planet first, therefore I get to pick)I agree - that fold out sofabed is not very comfortable at all. Instead of a huge king bed why don't they put two queens in the bedroom? Anyone with more than one kid is not going to be happy with the parents sleeping in the bedroom and two (or more) kids on the sofabed.
As far as having the king bed goes, believe me, it's worth it not to hear your parents complain the entire trip about the bed. They can't share a bed that's smaller than a king. Spoiled people.
As far as having the full living area, when we went to Aulani and Hilton Head in the past, we've really needed that living area. There's no way we'd want it to be another bedroom. In WDW we get a studio since we're not in the room as much.
