One package - two different check-in times?

Another question from me today...

All of us are on the same package (in the same room) but one member of our group is on a different flight and will be arriving much later than the rest of us. How does that work? I thought I read somewhere that everyone on the same package had to be there to check-in at the same time? Will we be able to get our KTTW cards or will we have to wait for the other member of our group.

If this is the case it will really mess up our plans b/c my brother is showing up much later than us and we had plans to hit the parks and meet up with him later!

Thanks!

From my experience we only needed 1 person per room to do the check in and we received all the KTTW cards for our rooms. We arrived in the afternoon and my husband and father came in late that night. We also did on line check in so I don't know if that makes a difference

The person whos name the reservation is under needs to be present at check-in. At that time you will get all your KTTW cards and welcome packet etc.... If you need to Im sure they will hold the late persons card at check-in until he arrives at the reosrt.

Only the lead person on the reservation needs to be present. Last Dec we checked in early in the day and hit the parks and my in-laws were getting in later in the day and were meeting us in the park. We figured it would be easier if they came straight to the park and didn't lose any time by having to check in. When we called to make the reservations we asked how to be able to do that. The reservation agent put my name on one room and my husbands name on the other one as the lead guest and then put my father in law in one room and my mother in law in the other as additional guest. We had no problem checking in that way. Then we just had to meet them at the front of the park to give them their KTTWs once they called to tell us they were there.

Thanks for the replies! I guess I'm the lead person on the reservation (it's in my name)... so we should be fine!

The only situation in which ALL members of the party need to be present is when you have booked the promotional FREE Disney Dining Plan. They made this rule because there were some unscrupulous guests who found a way to scam the system ... they made up fictitious 3rd or 4th guests so that they would receive additional free dining credits. Disney got wise to this.

I'm sure there is a mechanism through which you can still check-in even though one or more members of your party are legitimately not able to be physically present at time of check-in, for the FREE Disney Dining Plan promotion. I suppose they only dole out the number of credits allowable for the number of guests present, and then as others check-in later the party gets their full measure of DDP credits, and so on.

So if you are not booked for the FREE Disney Dining Plan promotion, then there's no need to have everyone present.

We WERE booked with free dining when we went in December and we had no problem whatsoever checking in without my in-laws. And we were given all of the dining credits on our KTTW for each person at that time. So unless it has changed since December the OP should have no problem.

I don't see how they can not let you check in when you get there when your park tickets are attached to your package.

We are going during free dining time! Hopefully there is a way around this!

I hope you're right! We're getting in around mid-afternoon but my brother won't be showing up until that evening! If we have to wait for him the parks will be closed! Which would be a bummer! We love to hit the parks that first day even if it's only for a few hours! I'm sure Disney wouldn't make us wait... would they!?!

We definitely had free dining(got a pin in the mail for free dining and discounted room rates...that sealed the deal for us going in December of last year:)), definitely checked in without my in-laws, and definitely had no problem. I even used my father in law's card and had him use mine so that we each had the correct room key. We even had a counter service meal prior to them getting there and used our dining credits and had no issues doing so whatsoever.

You could always call Disney and ask. Once you have your answer, you can even ask them to note it on your reservation that one member of your party will be arriving late and the rest of you will be checking in prior to that. It couldn't hurt.

Like I said I couldn't see them keeping you from the parks. It just makes no sense from a customer service standpoint.
