one day, one man, three parks!! 4/27/2013

This won't be full of pics, possibly any, but I thought I'd share this super fun day I had. I live in south FL and took a trip for the weekend for a concert on friday and sunday. I am not too much of a fan of Tampa and I'm rarely this close to Orlando on a free day, so I decided to head to the World on my own and have myself a little ride-a-thon along with a quick lap around the world :) I oversleep due to my friend whose place I was crashing at was a bartender and got out of work late (on top of driving 4 hours to Tampa and attending a lengthy rock show as well). My initial mission was to do all 4 parks in a day, but I had to cross DAK off my list due to its distance from the rest of the parks and it would have been for only 3 attractions.

So on 4 hours of sleep I get up and get ready and head off on the road and arrive at the DHS parking lot by 840AM, get my one day hopper and head straight to TSMM. Grab a 1:45pm fast pass and head into the standby line (45 min posted). As the day's trend will become, I get to the point where I'm asked how many, I say, 'one,' and I'm lead to another line much shorter than it would have been if wasn't alone. It saved me about 10 min of waiting and I wait 25 min to ride :) I do horrible and realize this ride isn't quite so much fun completely alone and my gun wasn't calibrated right (I still got the best score in the car though :P). It almost made me question whether going alone was a good idea, but I think also people were still tired from it being kind of early and so was I. Off to RnR... or not. Single rider line is closed and 80 min standby... nope! ToT it is and of a posted 60 min wait, I got on in about 35 or so min. I spent about 20 seconds in the boiler room before a CM called out for a single rider and I was on :) It was a really silly group I rode with and it made for a really fun ride :) another reason I wish I hadn't gone alone is that my pictures on most rides were actually pretty awesome and I would have picked up one or two had I been with someone else. I head over to RnR and see the single rider line is STILL closed, so I speed walk over to Star Tours for 2 walk on rides, the first including a sequence I hadn't experienced out of the 14 or so times I've ridden between DL and DHS. I stop by a gift shop with nightmare before christmas gear and pick up a cute Jack baseball Tee I'm going to give my gf (she lives in TX unfortunately) and a Jack plush that I'll have around to remind me of my gf :P I try one last time for RnR and single riders is open. After a 20 min wait I ride (awesome as always) and am nearly complete with the studios. The only thing left was to take a trip to Starring Rolls for a red velvet cupcake to-go. I saved it to enjoy with lunch, but from here, on I go to the buses to EPCOT and the ride-a-thon continues along with the trip around the world... To be continued

You did my dream… I am only 18 right now but I so want to do a Disney trip by myself. I feel like going by myself will give me a new way to experience Disney. I can’t wait to read more and see what you thought about it.

It's liberating actually because no one is going to hold you back with rest room breaks and you only do what YOU want to do.

You could definitely do it. I thought being a guy in his mid-late 20s going alone would look weird, but people were super nice and friendly to me and I was sort of taken aback by it. EPCOT portion coming in lil bit.

Before I continue on, I forgot to note that I was leaving DHS by 1230pm and I managed to ride the big 4 attractions for 5 total rides in just over 2 1/2 hours :) I also had given away my TSMM FP on RnR waiting in line. I was ready for some Flower and Garden Festival!

At this point I wasn't fully sure about skipping DAK, so I went to the buses and EPCOT and DAK's stops were right next to each other and I decided to go to whichever bus came first, and EPCOT won. I probably would have gotten there faster walking through to the gateway, but these between park rides are really the only breaks I have. I arrive to EPCOT at about 1:00 pm.

So past the turnstiles I see this

My mind is blown!! The pictures don't do justice to how amazing these displays are in person. I enjoyed seeing them, but not for too long, I had a few things to do. I check my ride app and see M:S orange is at 35 min so I grab a FP for 1:45 pm and head over to Test Track on the single rider line. The wait was about 25 min and the ride was pretty sweet, as it was the first time riding during the day and that was cool to experience.

Heading over to Mission: Space was more or less a test for myself. The two previous times I've ridden, it's taken a bit out of me and I'm still surprised that any Disney Park attraction effects me like that one does. While I didn't have to slow down my pace after riding, I felt it again and don't know if I want to ride it again. Maybe I will for my nephew when we take our family trip in Aug :)

At this point I had been holding out and dealing with hunger pangs for this next part, F&G Fest at World's Showcase!! Entering through to Mexico I stop there first for this

Rose Infused Margarita

This was pretty good... The margarita was my favorite I must say. I couldn't snap a shot of the red velvet cupcake. It got a little less pretty in a container in my back pack, but that was pretty good too. I was surprised to see the crab meat is chilled rather than hot. That was ok, but it surprised me.

Germany is coming next, but... To be continued

and I'm back!! Lots of work over the last 4 days had me too busy and tired to post until now. A note on the previous post regarding mission: space, is that when I told them I was just one when I handed my FP, I got taken through the middle between the green and orange lines to be a single seat filler. That looked like it saved me at least 10 minutes based on the last times I'd ridden :)

Soooo... I'm back in Mexico finishing up my food and drink and move on. I'm tempted to grab some schoolbread in Norway, but knew I'd be able to enjoy it this summer so I pass looking to enjoying solely what's at the F&G booths. I don't really see anything that caught my attention until I stopped by Germany...

German Meatloaf Sandwich with Sweet Mustard and Fried Shallots and Krombacher Hefeweizen (love me some wheat beer!!) it was a nice quick bite and the sweet mustard was perfect with the meatloaf, which was a sausage or bratwurst of some sort. I was expecting what I think of when I hear meatloaf, but it was good and the 6 oz. beer was just right to wash it down with, although I wish there was an orange or lemon wedge I could have squeezed into it. On I go... more food!! U.S.A. I go!!

Pulled Pig Slider with Cole Slaw. It was good and a good size for the price, but I was expecting just a lil more flavor-wise. A sauce or something to top it with. No alcohol here as nothing caught my eye and I got 10+ hours to go and a drive to Tampa ahead of me so I gotta be wise with my picks. I became disappointed when I was looking for descriptions for what I ate online and realized what I missed at some other booths as I was moving pretty quickly (dole whip with spiced rum and peach bubble tea in China :( ) Oh well, there's still more food, onto France!!

Country style pâté served with baguette and cherry compote and Kronenbourg Blanc 1664. It was a nice a less hearty way to cap off my trip around the world. The beer was nice and this was my first experience with pâté and it was awesome!! Wish I had more room for more food or more time, but I had much much more to do, so Captain EO I go!

I needed an excuse to sit down for a little while and this was one of my must see attractions for the day, as I probably won't get to see it in Aug and who knows how much longer this will run for. I had no knowledge of Captain EO until about a year and a half ago, when I was fresh into my re-discovery of my love for Disney and the parks. I had been a Michael Jackson fan since I actually listened to music on my own, so I really enjoy seeing MJ at his best in this show. My final stop was SSE before heading out to the Kingdom, so yes, more sitting!!! I was gonna be all over the place at MK so I know I needed this. I also have a thing for stars on rides, which is part of why I love Space Mountain, SSE and Peter Pan's Flight in DL. It was a pleasant ride and I headed straight for the turnstiles and onto the Monorail (got to ride the Monster's University train and it's pretty cool looking I must admit). I was in and out in about 3 hours and would hit the turnstiles at MK at about 430 pm... to be continued
