One Costs More Than Two

If you check the resort reservations site I've found that reserving a hotel room for one person costs considerably more than if there is more than one person. Why do they do that?

And to be a bit cynical, what if you plan to go by yourself but indicate there will be another person in the room, just to get the cheaper rate?

What am I missing here?

It comes out exactly the same when I do it. Sure you aren't adding tix or something else?

4 nights in June at AKL was $1170 for a std room whether it was 1 or 2 people.

The rooms should be exactly the same price for one or two...all rates are based on double occupancy.

You might want to check the dates and or length of stay as the price is the same for 1 or 2 adults.

I'm very confused! As stated, the standard rooms are based on double occupancy, so if a room is $100, it's $100 whether there are one or two adults. Now, there is an increase if you add extra adults, but not if you have less than two.
