On The Record

I posted this on 12/9 at the Animation, Video etc. forum and nobody has replied yet so I moved it to here so maybe someone would read it.

We just saw the new Disney stage production, On The Record. What an awesome show! There were 6 of us at the Sunday, 12/5 matinee in Chicago at the Auditorium Theater. We had wonderful seats, first row balcony. The music was fantastic. It was amazing hearing all those Disney classics at one time. The singing of "Be Our Guest" in French, German, Japanese and Swedish was funny and the whole "Supercalifragilisticexpalodosious" (sp) segment was hysterical. My brother ordered copies of the CD for all of us we were so impressed. I am ready to see it again the next time it comes to Chicago. Has anyone else seen it yet? Does anyone know where we can get an On The Record T-shirt? My brother bought one at the show and didn't look at it until he got home. He got a Large but it was a Youth Large and not an Adult Large. It would be cool if I could get him one before Christmas.

The shirt maybe a lost cause now but I'll keep my fingers crossed.

As it's not coming to the UK anytime soon I'll not get a chance to see it (but then I have seen Mary Poppins, so that kind of works it out).

Does the show have a website? Many do and you can purchase merchandise from them.

Thanks barnum I'll check into it. We're looking forward to Mary Poppins making it to Chicago. Mary Poppins was the very first movie my mother took me to as a little girl, age of 5. She and my aunt took my sister and I to the movie leaving my brother (he was only 1) home with dad. My sister fell asleep (she was 3) and cried when the movie was over. I just love Mary Poppins.

I've got a thread going in the General Discussions part of the forums about this. I was in the third row of the first balcony on the same day as you! Did you go and put yourself in front of the camera for the new commercial at all?

I'm not sure about where you can get a shirt, but Melissa (Ditzeechick02) and I both got a t-shirt from the show. Luckily they gave us both adult sizes.

I'm glad to hear you had fun! I had a blast there and will never forget it.

I saw the show today. It was amazing! I ordered myself up a CD and can't wait for the March release of it. The credit card machine screwed up and I had to wait so long that I was a few minutes late to work today, but it's okay.

I really wish I'd had time to get online and see this thread earlier. I would have bought one and mailed it to you. But, now it's too late. Sorry.

Thanks all for the help. That's the thing Scottieboy, he bought the shirt at the show but didn't check the size before he left. It's a little late now to get it before Christmas so I'll see about getting him one for his June birthday. Small world that we were at the show same day and both in the first balcony. We were sitting right where the balcony started turning to the right, 6 of us rounding the corner. Did you see the plasma TV's facing the stage handing from the balcony? We could see them. It was the conductor. Since the actors and other musicians couldn't see him, they watched him from on the TV screens. We thought it pretty cool.

I was in the very center of the first balcony Row C seats 1 and 2. The seats couldn't have been any better. I was tempted to get up and see what was on the plasmas but didn't think those in front of me would've appreciated it. Have you tried calling the company to see if you can get a new shirt or find an email address for them? I'm sure you can find somewhere to get that new shirt. Thanks for sharing what the plasmas were for, now I wish I would've gone down to look at them.

Did you get recorded at all for the commercial...if so, have you heard if you're going to be on or not?

No, we didn't do the commercial thing. We saw the set up and said to ourselves, "I wonder what that it?" and proceeded to walk on past. It's too late now for the t-shirt for Christmas but I'll keep trying. We were sitting on the first row and put our programs on the ledge. The big joke was that someone was going to knock the program off.

We saw the plasmas when we first sat down. It wasn't until the show had started that we saw what was going on. It was pretty cool.

Saw it Sunday 1/9, 6:30 show at the Phila Academy Of Music. We had understudy Koh Mochizuki in the role of Nick, and he did great. So many great numbers- standouts included 'I Wanna Be Like You', Everybody Wants To Be A Cat','Reflection', 'Be Our Guest', 'You've Got A Friend In Me', and the medleys that closed the first act & the finale.

Can somebody do me a huge favor? I want a recording of the television and radio commercial for "On the Record." If you want to know why, just PM me or whatever, but I'd really REALLY like a copy of these.

Thanks in advance!

Scott
