On Property or Off Property

I need a little info from you smart types. I'm considering staying off property for my upcoming visit. I have an AP, so I get parking for free. I would only be able to book FP's one month out, but I can live with that. My big question is do I still get a MagicBand if I stay off property? If I don't get a band, then how do I access my FP's and pay for stuff on a room charge? Thanks.

Yep! You can get a magic band, the only difference is you have to buy one from the online store (or at disney springs, etc.)

I actually used mine from a while back when I was at disney springs over the holiday (and wasn't staying at a Disney resort)

If you prefer to use old magic bands that you already have...as long as they are active in the profile and linked to the right person/ticket...they should be fine.

I think I have about 10 linked (most never used)...till they started making the opt outs easier

I just use the hard ticket and not the magic band. I find no hassle in reaching in my pocket and pulling out my card and putting it up against the sensor just as you would do with the band. Everything is on that ticket, FP's and ADR's and I have never had a mess up with it ever. You guys can keep your magic bands... I'll use my magic card. I would never charge anything remotely anyway. I use my credit card at the point of sale, take my reciept immediately and go on my way. I don't trust third hand transactions.

The last two times I have been I actually made my FP's choices the night before and got everything I wanted. I don't recommend that to anyone, but, it has been quite effective for me. I go in February usually.

If you are staying OFFsite, you won't be sent a magic band. But you have choices. You can use a plastic ticket, OR an old MB, OR the MB that you get with your AP. Just make sure that which ever you want to use is in your MDE account.

If you are staying OFF site, you cannot have room charging privileges. That's only for onsite guests.

If you are an AP, you should have a MB waiting in your MDE account for address verification and shipping. Check to see if it's there.

Just make sure no more than 5 are active. It can cause reading issues at touch points if you have lots of active MBs.

You're getting some conflicting info here.

You CAN use a MagicBand for park admission and Fastpass+. You CANNOT use it for charging. Charging with a MagicBand is linked to a room charge, not a credit card charge.

This is an important point...there's been a ton of wrong posts lately alluding that you can walk onto the property and charge away. It's still link to a room folio...tracking it/obtaining authorization without that would be too problematic as it currently stands. Perhaps one day.
