Is it better to stay on or off property at Disneyland? We've never been so anything is appreciated. Also which hotels do you suggest? Any info is greatly apreciated!

I much prefer on property!
I've stayed at the Disneyland Hotel (and would recommend the Sierra tower) and the Grand Californian. If you can afford it, get a Grand Californian room overlooking the parks or downtown disney. Expensive, but top notch! A great disney experience!

I prefer on property too, but it depends on how much you want to spend on a hotel. If you want to go cheap then stay off property, but many hotels are really close.

I recommend on-property if you'd like to shell out the extra bucks. My family and I stayed off-property during our visit in March, and trust me, it wasn't that great. There are tons of hotels near the entrance to the Esplande also, which are cheap, but I would still recommend on-property. The Paradise Pier Hotel is usually the cheapest of DLR's three resorts, so if you're on a tight budget I would suggest it.

Well I think Grand Californian is out of the pic but which is better Disneyland hotel or Paradise Pier? Also are those resorts both in walking distance from the parks?

The Disneyland Hotel is better and they are both within walking distance of the parks (which is good b/c you don't really have a choice unless you want to wait on the monorail). That being said, there are definitely nicer hotels off property, too, and they are cheaper. You just need to research. Many of the upper level Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels are very nice, so just research. I don't truly feel Disneyland Resort Hotels are worth the price, as they are not at ALL like the Disney World Resort Hotels. They are nice, but even more overpriced than the wdw hotels.

Well now we're looking at Portofino Inn and Suites. Seems cute and people have recommended it. Anyone stay there?

We're planning on the Grand Californian in October, our first trip. I just can't bring myself to stay out of the magic!

By the way, expedia is offering buy 3 or 4 nights get the next free at all three Disney hotels. I don't know how long it lasts but it's working for my dates in October!

Have fun!
