Hi...I was wondering if anyone could help me....My mother in law bought 4 world passport tickets (the predecessor to park hoppers I'm assuming) in 1988. 3 of the tickets still have one day left and 1 ticket has 2 days left...when she bought them the lady who sold them said they never expire...anyway we are going on Sat and she is wondering if they would still be valid....any help would be appreciated..thank you

As long as she bought them through Disney or that the information she got was correct, that is true. I worked @ Vacation planning at the studios and we were trained to transfer the used days onto new tickets that could be used for FP. I would suggest going to the Guest Relations window to get them changed over (just because it is not required of the ticket sales to do so and some of them weren't fully trained on all types - so it just takes longer). Also, a little known fact is that if you tell them you'd like to keep the tickets as a momento, they will send them to you. They'll have "VOID" stamped on them and all sorts of other info to make it so you can't just get them exchanged again. plus, they need to go through the balancing process for the GR CM and the parks daily audit. But it will eventually get back to you.

They wont be valid for AK, and i don't recall what year Studios opened, but if they were bought prior, it wont be valid for it either.

Actually, that is not true. Animal Kingdom (and all parks that open) have an 18 month black out period where you cannot use old tickets for entry. When you change your old tickets for new one, thay will be good for ANY WDW park. Trust me, it's my job. :)

But, since the new tickets have the phrase "Not good for admission to any park that has commenced operation after April 22, 1996" on them, this won't be true for any future park, right?

Actually, the current wording is "any park commencing operations after May 1, 1998." If the tickets were exchanged 18 months after a new park were to open, they would then be valid for that park. So, for example: WDW Park #5 opens tomorrow - you take your 1990 5 Day World Hopper (or whatever) to exchange 2 years from now, you can enter all parks that are open. You take your ticket 6 months from now, it would not be valid for park #5. This applies to old paper tickets only.

With the decline of "No Expiration" tickets, this is less and less likely to occur. Most Guests have tickets that expire 14 days from first use, very rarely is the No Expiration option purchased. And unless the ticket system were to change again, this would not be an issue anyways, the currently purchased tickets with magnetic strips will work in the turnstyles. Old tickets with stamps/hole punches need to be exchanged for a current ticket and this is when the bump in entitlements occurs.

No
you should make a scan of those tickets and post them. One guy on here has a website that shows old tickets and maps
