Old ticket Media-1983!

disney tickets.jpg

So a friend of mine found these in an attic a few weeks ago. He knew we were going to Disney this summer and let me have them. I have 10 of these in total and none of them have been used or stamped. I tlooks like they are good for WDW or DL and probably could be used as park hoppers?

I was on the internet looking for this ticket and I could not find them anywhere, to possible get a value if I was to sell them as collector items. I know there are some similar ones out there being sold on eBay for about $200. Of course if I sold it and not used it to enter the parks I would give the money back to my friend.

But does anybody know what the collectors market would be for this ticket or is it best just to use it as a park hopper( I still need to see if they are in fact "hoppers").

thanks

I would think, since they specifically say MK and Epcot, that it would be limited to those two. However, they are valid tickets so you can use them as park hoppers between the two parks in a sense, but, again if you plan on going to more then one park in a day, they should be usable either way to those two parks. Best way to find out is to ask someone that knows how the tickets work, but, they have to be worth something and from what I heard if you use them as listed they are completely valid, but, if you attempt to upgrade them there may very well be an additional charge at today's prices.

I think you'd have to go to GR and exchange them for some form of ticket media that will work at the current turnstiles. A CM at the turnstiles wouldn't have a datestamp to validate the ticket.

Honestly, I think if they're in good condition, they'd be worth more as collectables than as tickets.

I'm going to have to call and see about the hopping privilage, I beleive this could be converted to hopper passes throughout WDW.

Thanks for the reply, after a little reserach since these are complimentary tickets offered to CMs or shareholders they may not have the same value since they are not traditional media but I will continue to investigate.

Good idea as I am not sure exactly how liberal that they get with it. When the tickets were sold there were only two parks and they were automatic hoppers that is how they were sold. They might allow it, I don't really know, however, the wording on the tickets is pretty clear and I'm sure if they really wanted to limit it to the two parks they could, but, that would be complicated so there is a chance that it will be for all. Good luck! I went the first time in 1983 and I would surely like to have some of those unused tickets on hand. :)

As a rule old admission media will be accepted and upgraded/converted into equivalent media good for the same perks. Not sure if the system can handle hopping between only 2 parks, but in theory that is all you should be offered. You may get a nice CM who gives you full hopping rights, but I wouldn't count on it.

The old school ticket books are worth more as collectibles as they only credit you face value on the ticket, these may be worth more as tickets since they are still valid for actual park admission, and I don't think any collector would pay you more than gate price for them. (And I'd be shocked if you got more than $15-20 for them once voided)

Since it says "Complimentary" doesn't that mean it's worth nothing? If no one paid anything for the ticket initially, then I can't seeing Disney giving a credit for it now.

Also, since it says "Valid Only on Date Stamped" and there is no date stamped, I wonder if they would honor it. It also says "Nontransferable."

Having said that, it's still worth asking about. Like you said, the collectibles market may be the way to get something out of it.

These "Complimentary" tickets from what I understand were given to CMs so they can give them out to friends or family. They were also given out at shareholder meetings and business conferences held in the WDW resorts(I beleive that is how these particular ones came to my friends father).

I have seen images of these online where they were stamped. The stamping was done after used as admission. so I think they are valid but I will have to get the details on use

Before fancy schmancy swipe tickets were around and computers were the size of a fridge, using a date stamp was how they recorded that the ticket had been used. You enter, they stamped. Then if you needed to re-enter they checked the date on the ticket and your hand stamp.

I have some old A-E tickets from 1972. I wonder if they'd let me in with those.

Nope. They would credit you the dollar amount listed on the face of the ticket since those were not valid for admission to the park in and of themselves. So I think turning a whole ticket book in gets you a whopping $15 or so credit, while those same tickets can fetch more than that on eBay.

When I had a 5 day ticket from the mid '90s that I used in 2012 they only allowed access to MK, Epcot, and DHS saying they were the only parks available at that time. The ticket also had a couple of other complementary add-ons and they more or less matched those as well. Oddly enough there was not mechanism for me to be able to add AK to the aged pass, not that I really cared.

Hope it works, but I'm concerned since they're comp tickets they might not be accepted. Since we have a CM saying they're good, go for it.
