Old MGM Soundstages

The other night I caught up with one of my old managers who now works at Toy Story Midway Mania at the Studios. In conversation I asked him what stage was used to film The Mickey Mouse Club. He didn't even know they filmed there so I didn't get my answer. Out of the 3 soundstages, 2 are used for TSMM and the other is "In Production". My boyfriend used to work at Millionaire and said there were many MMC props still backstage so I'm thinking maybe it was either the corner soundstage or both. Anyone know? Any old pics or even recent would be cool. Thanks y'all.

Good question. More than likely it was either soundstage 2 or 3, since they are the larger of the soundstages. Never saw any props from MMC backstage, though. It can be confusing, though, since right behind the soundstages is the scenic shop, where props and sets for Disneyworld are always being made and refurbished so some of the props could be confused for old tv and movie props.

I doubt it's still there, but as of '04 Jim Henson's creature lab and the Tool Time set were still in one of the soundstages, and just sitting there rotting.

No there's nothing left. Toy Story takes up all the space of 2-3, and even the offices that sat between 1 and 2 (which is now the queue area with MPH). A CM event was recently held in 1, and there weren't any sets left.

And DisneyGRL85, who's the manger? I work at Toy Story Mania, and was just wondering....

I remember seeing the living room set for Home Improvement when I was younger. I LOVED that show growing up.

As far as Toy Story taking up all the room, it's very true. Behind Mr. Potato Head used to be the breakroom for Millionaire and now the mechanics leave about a few feet between that and the back wall of the studio so they used as much room as they could. Last summer (2007) I was back in the green rooms of Soundstage 1 and as far as I saw there wasn't anything dealing with old productions. I did have the op to take a tour of the Tot Story construction last year but didn't take advantage of it until it was too late, I'm really sad I didn't now. I may have had the chance to snoop around back stage. Hey Chape19714, I'd rather not post their name on the site.

The Jim Henson Creature Shop and the Home Improvement sets weren't in Soundstages 1-3. They're in the separate building between Sounstage 1 and the Backlot Tour entrance. (This is the building that's *behind* the sky backdrop for the water tank show)

I don't know if they're still in there or not. That building hasn't been used in quite a while.

I remember they were using the Soundstage that had the corridor for filming stuff (it always used to be filled with sets) until Millionaire moved in.
