Old Key West will be receiving a much needed make-over starting this month. The renovation is supposed to be completed relatively quickly. This will be done building by building. Each villa will be getting brand new flat screen TV's, granite countertops, new bathroom fixtures, new coats of paint, and a sleeper chair in addition to a new sofas, and new carpeting.

We plan to stay here in March 2011 and can't wait! :sohappy:

They are also replacing the LR carpet with laminate wood floors.

Interesting. We are staying there for a week in October, wonder if it will be complete or if we will get an upgraded room.

(BTW, Disneymike93, I hate be picky, but I take it you mean March 2011? I was pretty confused for a minute, trying to figure out if this was old news!)

The renovation started after April vacation and is scheduled to last about a year. Building 30 was the first but I don't know the order beyond that. They should be about half done by October, so it looks like you have a 50/50 chance. I wouldn't hurt to put in a request for a refurbed room.

Edit: I just looked at my OKW map. Building 30 is the first building on the right on Turtle Pond, so maybe they are doing that whole area first?

It wouldn't matter to me if I didn't get a refurbed room, I actually like the carpet in the living room!

And we're only two people, besides! At OKW, we prefer to take the 1BR if we have the points, since the studios there have the two beds instead of bed/sofabed. It's nicer to sit on the sofa when you're just hanging around the room.

Oh cool- we will also be staying in October. This will be our first time staying there and some of the reviews I read were saying the rooms needed some updating. Its good to hear they are doing this.

Just wondering if the addition of the sleeper chair will change the "official" body count for the rooms. Like right now, a 1 BR is 4 people and one under 3 in a pack n play. Will they up it to 5 people and still have one under 3? Just curious, as this could make or break a 1 BR for us, and save us from upgrading to a 2 BR...
