Old Key West (OKW) Studio or Port Orlans French Quarter (POFQ) for Solo Trip?

For Christmas last year, my choice was between POR vs renting DVC points for OKW for 2 adults. Prices differed by less than $10.

We went with OKW for a nicer room for the holiday. We had a car, but Ubered almost everywhere because the drinks at WDW lounges are very pretty. 😆 And the buses at OKW were…annoying.

It was a great choice for that trip! When I go solo, it’s ASM.

Sounds like POFQ might be the better choice for you on this trip.

For a solo trip, Port Orleans over OKW.

We just got back from OKW (2 BR and a studio). For trips with the family, we like OKW. We spread out, we eat breakfast in the room, we go out to in-park TS restaurants for dinner.

For a solo trip, not so much. As other have said, the QS option at OKW is really just a glorified poolside snack bar. The lounge has it's charm (and some of the bartenders are awesome) but it is extremely small (but they do have a menu that you cannot get at the QS). The pool is also not what I would call up to current Deluxe standards.

While there is water service to Disney Springs from OKW, don't use it if you are in any sort of rush. Especially with the new security at DS.

While I find Olivia's good, it's offerings get pedestrian very quickly.

FQ for the win for me. Most of the advantages have been outlined well by the other posters.it is very charming and compact, has good food service, awesome beignets in a dedicated spot, recent refurb. The pool is also very good- well-themed and decent size. Pretty good gift shop too. For me- OKW had a very loyal clientele (many DVC) and largest studio rooms on property. The buildings are a little too ‘Ft. Lauderdale condo’ for us. Really spread out as well, and perhaps the worst bus experience on property, matched only by the campground and Saratoga.

Or you just don’t mind either walking or riding a bus. 🤷‍♀️

I actually wonder if this is a culture thing. I use a bus every day to work, into the city centre, everywhere. Or I walk.
We never used the bus at OKW when going to HH or back. And for the parks we just got on and off at our stop. Making other stops en route is a normal function of a bus.
Amen. 🙌

I find OKW an easy walk. Whenever I stay there (disclaimer, it's my home resort) coming back from the parks I get off at the first bus stop and walk to my unit, wherever it may be. And I walk from my unit to the Hospitality House, last stop before heading to the parks.

All.that said, to the OP, you should probably go with POFQ, and I do agree with those recommending Coronado's Destino Tower. It may not be "in your face" Disney, but it is a beautifully themed building with exceptional dining

To me, for a trip of that length, a big factor is which vibe you prefer - b/c those hotels have vastly different theming and feels.

Most (all) are choosing POFQ and I agree there is more going on there when you add in Riverside, food options, the River Roost lounge if you'd want to grab a drink at night, etc.

My devil's advocate (cue Al Pacino voice) case for Old Key West would include:

-If you get a 1 bedroom villa at OKW, it's substantially bigger than POFQ rooms, nice for a long stay.
-It's a bit closer to DS, perhaps an advantage for solo travelers.
-If you rent a car, you can park right at your door, an underrated convenience.

I've enjoyed my stays at OKW, but always rented a car and also stayed in decent walking distance to the main store/restaurants. I would probably feel differently if placed way out and was bussing it.
