Old Fastpass System

In 2020, when Disney World reopened and before vaccines came out, in my opinion, keeping the Fastpass plus system would have allowed guests to social distance because the pass would allow guests to wait in a virtual line and they could wait sitting on a bench or elsewhere in the park. This would of been the best option at that time. This was my 2 cents. I sure miss the old system. Especially the Fastpass plus was also wonderful for those with a physical disability or medical condition who could not stand in line for long periods of time (such as arthritis or back or knee pains) and for those who have cognitive conditions such as Autism and ADHD.

People don’t care much about those with physical limitations short of a legally recognized disability.

One poster suggested older people should plan their trips at times when lines are short (?) or just stay away from theme parks. Another, when I mentioned liking FastPasses because my elderly mother couldn’t tolerate long lines, said “So what I’m hearing you say is that she wouldn’t let the rest of you stand in line?” Like we were going to park her under a tree and enjoy the rides while she sat there.

You’re absolutely right about line skip systems making it easier to include people who would otherwise not be able to enjoy theme parks. But hey, they’re not in the majority.

Next, its gone and wont be back.
So are many other aspects of Disneys past but that doesnt stop multiple posts being generated. At least it was free and I could always get 3 FP's which got me on popular attractions. I dont dispute that it caused increased line growth and I hated being in line watching FP holders walking past me, but I had my turn walking past them on other things.

The no fastpass system never had anyone passing past you that didn't end in a CM encounter and the first come first serve system self governed the line lengths. If you came to an attraction the was to long, you just passed it by and returned later when the line was shorter. There were always times when the line was shorter even with new rides.

I have to admit, I miss the days of no fastpasses whatsoever. The lines seemed to flow and move a lot better then. Even when they were long lines, they still moved well.
The no fastpass system always was more fair. The first come, first served system self governed the line length. If the line was to long you just passed by it and went back later when the line was shorter. They all had a shorter line at some points in the day, even the new ones.

Sorry for the repeat, when I posted it that original was lost in cyberspace only return later. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

Pre-fastpass days still recognized people with disabilities and once they built the wider queues it let chairs and scooters accessible where instant gratification wasn't required. In more serious mobility problems they even were able to accommodate them by loading them at the unload location.

They did. That’s why I specified people with physical limitations short of actual disabilities.

Sure, not disputing that but when I got my FP it gave me 3 attractions that I could do without leaving and waiting for the evening hour when the line was hopefully shorter. I had more ability to plan my day without running back and forth hoping a line was ideal to jump in. It worked for me.

There were even a few rides where my aunt did not have to transfer. I will never forget the joy on her face being able to ride Jungle Cruise because they could load her directly. She thought she was done because she couldn't handle the steps.

I actually preferred old FP to FP+ myself. I hate having to overplan.

Before FP there was no need for planning. You walked into the park started either to the left or to the right at the castle and went to one at a time as you worked your way around the wheel. If you felt that the line was to long, you walked past it to the next in line and came back later. You could then experience everything and overall spent the same time in the parks and saw more during that time. The move faster, see more, Fastpass system was then and is now nothing more then a system built and promoted to make people think that they are experiencing more in less time. Only they are not. Genie+ doesn't even come close to helping. That one has you not only crossing back and forth thinking you are getting on faster generally, only you are not. What time you saved in line was used up just traversing from one to another. And it raises your cost to experience significantly if you buy into the whole package.

It was true that in the way you just mentioned the early three pick FP. It was much better than the original FP!
