Old Disney Channel

I was watching a tape that was recorded probably like 10 years ago, and never realized how good it was until now. Walt Disney did intros, voices for cartoons, narrations and probably did a ton of other things I don't even know when he was around :) . Now a days I seriously don't think I've even seen Eisner on the channel ever :( which shows how much he cares. I truly hope they put all the good old stuff on dvd, which I think its gonna be done, but all in good time :D . Maybe we could use this thread to talk about the good old days?

Just addressing the issue of Eisner not being on the channel. He DOES do intros and the such for The Wonderful World of Disney but the reason he doesn't do many film spots (which is addressed in his book actually) is because he does not find himself very photogenic or receptable to the camera. In his book it talks about how many times the first promos had to be filmed to get it right.

I am in no ways condoning what DC is now .. I miss what it used to be when I watched it when I was younger and remember alot of old shows.. (and have people look at me strangely because of it). But you also have to remember it is the Walt Disney Company.. Walt was the sole "imagineer" of course he would do his best to promote his products (one of which is NOT the Disney channel since Walt was not alive when it was created).

I'm sorry I just thought it somewhat unfair to classify Eisner as not caring when in fact that may not be the case. Many imagineers say that when he first joined the company (I dont' know about now but I've read this in a few interviews with various imagineers) he visited often and was very involved in what was going on. If you read the official imagineering book you see how DIFFICULT it was for the Imagineers to sell to Eisner making a book about the secrets of an aspect of the company. I don't think the fact that Eisner doesn't care should be involved what the Disney Channel has become.

That being said I do think that the Disney Channel is much changed from what it used to be and I for one miss it!

You mean the UNDisney Channel? I feel it's an insult to use Disney on the wretched channel. :(

BLM - lucky! I wish I recorded the Disney Channel in its 90s Glory - - arrgh...how I wish that I could have episodes of Walt, "Inside Out", and those shows such as "Under the Umbrella Tree" - and then the Peanuts - remember that was on there? Oh, my gosh!!

And now...Teenagers! Yay, let's all be teenagers!! I just DIG those McGuires...and that Kim Possible...oh yeah!! I also enjoy her modest dressing..... :brick: :hammer:

Sorry for carrying on...but seriously...all I can really enjoy there is a couple of the Playhouse Disney shows and House of Mouse - which I'm never here to watch, and can really care less to miss an episode.

But when I think of the DISNEY aspects - the programming supposed to bring joy to the American Family - for that unity...oh, boy! The Wonderful World of Color..the Ink and Paint Club!! The movies that I can't even find at a video rental store...Ludwig Von Drake - - - Disneyland!!

And then there's Walt...oh my...Seems like we're spending the 100 Years of Magic with everything but Mr. Disney...

ARRRRRRGHHHH!!!

I was watching Adventures in Music, Driving on a freeway with Goofy (that is funny!), there was a part on there called "Dateline Disney" with a star (I think Bobby something) where he made his own replica of Main Street. A while back I remember there was a tape with a whole show showing how the Hall Of Presidents work, and they showed alot of backstage stuff. But now I can't find the tape, and if I do, I'll get it on the computer.

I don't mind the upbeat programming for teenagers and 'tweenagers (10-12), but I don't know why: (1) It has to repeat all day and night, and (2) They don't realize that many of those kids enjoy the unique shows and movies of the past, too.

Companies spend too much time understimating kids today. Not to mention the adults that want Disney entertainment.

I really miss the older stuff from the '50s and '60s. It still plays well, especially at night.

I also don't know why they would not do "Inside Out." It was fun to watch and yet also was a daily commercial for WDW. Maybe the loss of such programming is in some way contributing to the decline in tourism.
