OKW vs BC

We got back from this summers trip 3 weeks ago. And, as usual, we have already started planning for next years trip.

This past time we stayed at the Boardwalk... and we have stayed there two times before and then started going to the beach club villas. When we went back to the BW we were not pleased to say the least. So we decided that it will be a while before we go back there.

Then, thoughts came about of maybe next year we will stay at OKW. Afterall, it is our home resort... and only my grandparents have stayed there once, and that was over 10 years ago.

Soooo i was wondering.. in ever ones honest opinion... Old Key West or Beach Club Villas? (if we stay at OKW we will get 2 grand villas and 2 studios.. if we stay at BC we will get 4 two-bedroom villas and a studio.)

We've never stayed at BC but love BW and the atmosphere and benifits in staying in that area. Its nice to be able to walk or take a boat to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios. Plus it has one bus stop when going to MK or AK. I think I remember it sharing buses with a BW from the last time I was there.

We've stayed at OKW a lot since it's our home. I liked it being a Disney resort but found that taking a bus everywhere was a pain. I'm not sure of the number but it has quite a few bus stops. We've stayed right by the main building before so that was nice for checkin, food, and the big pool but were the last off the bus when returning to the hotel. Also its very quiet. I like the fact that there is always something going on at the Boardwalk but it could just be my age.

I guess its a matter of what you see as most important.

I prefer the Beach Club to Old Key West. I like its location a lot more, and I just find the resort is more "happening" than Old Key West.

We have stayed at OKW more often because we usually decide things late and we can usually get a room at OKW where BC is usually booked further out in advance, which I think tells you what most people prefer.
Of course OKW is less points as well, and if its just me & the wife (Disney veterans) we like using less points and enjoy OKW.

The pluses for OKW.
1. Less Points
2. More room/ More availablilty.
3.Nice golf course views
4.Olivias (underated restaurant)
5. Boat rentals
6. New pool slide

The pluses for BC.
1. Best resort pool & slide...hands down.
2. Location,Location,Location
3. Easy transportation to Epcot & The Studios
4.Boardwalk close by, lots of food options.
5.Beaches & Cream
6.Did I mention the pool??

I would say that if you plan to spen a little more time at your resort and by the pool, then I would choose the Beach Club. But if you have full days planned at the parks and are looking for a nice resort for a little less $$ than OKW.
