I have a friend who swears the best Fish and Chips is Ragland Road and another who says its Cookes of Dublin. I have eaten at Ragland Road and thought it was ok. Never tried Cookes myself but its one of the places I want to try. Whats the thoughts on this?

They are made in the same kitchen. So they are/should be the same. Cookes is attached to and is the QS option for some of Raglan Road's food etc. ;)

Do you mean compared to Yorkshire Fish Shop in Epcot? I personally think the one in Epcot has no taste once so ever and the batter is somewhat mushy. ;)

Thanks for the input. I thought they shared a kitchen, but they both say they are different. I guess frsh vs frozen fish would make a difference. I just was curious, to see what was known

Anytime somebody says something is "the best" I take it with a grain of salt. Same thing goes for when I read a review that says "everthing was yummy" (and "fresh" - fresh is another one).

Best and yummy are subjective terms. Maybe one person likes the maltiness of beer batter and an other does not. Maybe somone likes blander food than somone else. Maybe somebody has the gene that makes cilantro taste like soap. IF you want to talk about specific differnerces (temperature, crispiness, flavors, etc) thats all well and good, but "best" is a matter of taste, and tastes vary.

Fresh is not really subjective, but I find many people take "fresh" to mean "hot, and right from the kitchen" not "ingredients that were not previously frozen, from a mix, from foodservice, or cooked yesterday"

I talked to a manager there years ago who told me that inside it is fresh fish with a beer batter. In the quick serve, it is frozen fish with no beer.

I never knew that! I learn something new each day. Thank you that makes total sense as to why maybe in RR it's better than the QS. Now I need to try both again on the same trip to see. ;)

Epcot fish and chips are terrible!

I live 20 minutes away from the the original place in guiseley, West Yorkshire that the county fish shop is themed on and although the original has changed drastically here the Epcot version is awful and Yorkshire folk know their fish and chips! ;)

Agree it's a tasteless and mushy (not soggy but under the batter the layer before the fish Ian mushy). Rose and Crown is the same. We much prefer the other food at RNC. :)

I have never been to Yorkshire but I do know they usually arent soggy!

Not soggy so much but rather mushy under the outside batter. Outside batter is crisp but underlayer before the fish is a tad mushy to us and the whole thing has no flavor. :)
