Depending on how high the water level is, and the time of year (mating season)..you could VERY POSSIBLY see a gator on the side of the road. When I lived up in Delray I saw them almost every other day...now in Miami its a bit less frequent...

You get used to em..and you learn how to Avoid them (if one chases you...just remember...a Gator can NOT turn fast..so just make a sharp right or left turn and he will stop coming after you..and chances are if you keep going STRAIGHT....it WILL get you)

As for the bugs...they hide. But they are THERE,....on ocassion you see them out and about (thus where my phone book situation comes into play) but 9 times out of 10 you wont even see em.

I saw a fishing show this past week that was filmed on one of the tributaries to the St Johns river. The 'gators were pouring off the banks like an old Tarzan movie. On of the fisherman said on a previous trip that he had traveled up three miles of the river, and counted only the 'gators they saw on the left bank. He stopped counting at 150.
When I'm in Florida, I swim only in pools, and I look at them very hard.:D

im in sw fla-lots of gators here-also lived in ft lauderdale and miami and lots there too in the burbs.we used to feed them marshmallows.when i worked for coke my territory was marco island and everglades city-thousands of gators all over-i saw at least 30 a day in canals .once i walked out of my coke van to go into one of my accounts and there a 5 foot gator sunning himself about 4 feet away on the bank of this canal.i just kept on walking real slow till i got inside and called fish and game and the took it away-didnt hurt or kill it though

No, I've never seen more than 2 on the wall at one time! And I only see them a few times a year...especially if it's been raining a lot, or we have a cold snap.
