OK....I need help...POR or POFQ????

My family is currently booked at POFQ for March 2010. However, after looking at pictures, I have fallen in love with POR.

Our main concern is bus transportation to the parks. We will spend the majority of our time at the parks and I know POFQ has first stop and first drop on the bus route for the two resorts.

Is the transportation really that bad during Spring Break if we chose to stay at POR?

Also, how hard is it to get into Alligator Bayou as our choice for rooms at POR?

Any help would be appreciated....:veryconfu

We were @ PORS over Memorial Day. We had no problems with the buses. PORS had plenty of bus stops & it was an easy walk to 2 stops from our room in Alligator Bayou. My then 4 year old could even handle the walk.

I personally don't like POFQ but being from BTR, I see enough of NOLA to not want to vacation there.

I am really leaning toward making the move over to POR....I just know the crowds at Spring Break and I don't want the main memory from our trip to be waiting for a bus all the time....

i've stayed at pofq twice, once in the summer and then again over the week of christmas 2008. christmas through new years is the absolute busiest time at wdw and we didn't have any trouble with the bus situation at all. we travelled with 4 adults and 1 child and didn't have to split up our group or even stand on the buses for that matter so if the bus situation is your only concern you should feel confident about pofq. when we stayed there the first time in the summer of 04 we would get back after the extra magic hours around 2-3am then hit the pool or hot tub to wind down. the grounds and theming are beautiful but certainly more adult than say the value resorts. i particularly liked the room set up... there is a pull curtain at the vanity... great for changing when you go with a mixed group or if someone is sleeping etc... you get some privacy.

Stay where you feel you will be most comfortable. I've stayed at both POR (Alligator Bayou) and POFQ. Personally, I like POFQ better because of its more compact layout, one bus stop, and landscaping design. But only a little better than POR.

Bus service for POR seems to be hit or miss for people. Some people have experienced great service, others poor. But remember to take it for what it is - a free service designed to move a mass amount of people. You will sometimes have to wait.

When we stayed, POFQ and POR shared a bus for Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios, and had seperate busses for Magic Kingdom. If you find it too tough to get a bus at POR, you can make the walk over to POFQ and catch the bus there. From the main bus stop at POR to the stop at POFQ, you can make the walk in about 10 - 15 minutes along the river. And if they have the seperate busses on your trip, you can always take the POFQ bus back from the park if the line is shorter.

Whatever you decide, enjoy your trip!

You read my mind Nepalostparks.

From the way PortOrleans.org describes it, we could stay at POFQ and either walk a little ways or ride the water taxi over to POR if we wanted to go check out the grounds.

Has anyone done that between the two sites?

That way we always have the first stop and first drop with POFQ.

Yes you can easily walk between the two, about 5 mins tops.

We have stayed at both, including a stint at Alligator Bayou in 2005. We prefer POFQ because it is more compact. It is a long walk from Alligator Bayou to the PORS main building, if you choose not to wait for the bus. Hope this helps.

Next trip: Nov. 29-Dec. 5, POFQ:xmas:

We have stayed at both resorts and love them. Most often though we stay at POFQ because my mother uses a scooter and I don't like people having to make room for us on the bus. If we stayed at POR, we would get on the bus after the POFQ people.

The walk to POR is lovely along the river and only takes about 5-10 minutes.

POR.
Port Orleans Riverside is my favorite. It has two different exteriors for rooms. One is like a mansion, another is like a cabin. French Quarter I think only has one exterior theme. Doesn't really matter though. The food court is only 1-3 minutes away from most Riverside rooms. I love it! It only took a minute to walk from my room to the food court. There were bunnies hopping around! :D Lots of Salamanders! Which is good. For some people, at least. The pool is also close to most riverside rooms . Unless there is a pool for both riverside and french quarter. It's very quiet and calm sometimes in case you want to relax. You can take a peaceful boatride down the river. I, personally think that Riverside is a bit better than french quarter, but thats just me. I recommend riverside to anyone!

Riverside!! My family's favorite moderate resort and one of our favorites overall. We never minded the buses, the scenery and ambience made up for everything. The food court is great the boat to DTD is an excellent way to just relax after a long day and spend the night shopping/eating.

You read my mind Nepalostparks.

Now only if I could figure out the lottery numbers in advance!

The stroll along the river bank in the morning is a nice way to start the day. Head up and visit POR, taking in the quietness of the morning before the pool gets hopping.

That's of course if you're an early bird. An afternoon stroll is nice too :)

I like FQ better. I like the Mardi Gras theme over the country style theme, plus Riverside has 2x the amount of rooms on the grounds so you are definitely looking at more crowds at the food court and bus stops.

We like POFQ better b/c the grounds are smaller and the buses pick you up first. We saw alot of families take the boat to PORS and then use their pool. We took the boat over to PORS a few times to eat. But the food court at POFQ was really good and it's a quiter resort in my opinion. If I were you I'd keep my ressie, but that's just me :animwink:
