'Ohana

My family just made reservations for 'Ohana at the Polynesian for dinner. We have never eaten dinner there before. Can you tell me what it's like and what your experiences are?

What time are the fireworks at MK usually on Friday nights? Our reservation is at 7:40 and we want to go watch Wishes before we leave.

Man, from the title of your post, it sounds like you were going to ask a question about Cirque du Soleil's "O".

I was going to tell you that this is a Disney site, not a Las Vegas or Cirque one.

Its quite an experience...We enjoyed ourselves sooooo much. The food is served "family style"...they bring out large dishes & you help yourselves. The meat (cooked over an open flame on skewers) is served for you, but you can have as much as you want. My kids loved the warm caramel & pineapple served at the end. You will have to check the WDW calender for closing time on the day you have your PS...it really depends on the time of year.

O'hanas is a great place to eat dinner. We've been there and loved it. The food is really good and the atmosphere is relaxed, but can get loud when they start the kid's games. They have hulla hoop and coconut races.

Not only can you catch the fireworks, but you can see the water pagent on the lagoon. We were able to sit and watch it at our table. I believe it runs at 9:00pm most nights (maybe someone can confirm that).

Enjoy! I would love to go! :)

My friend and I ate there a few months ago. I really enjoyed the setting, and how they had cute little kiddie games. Plus, we had great seating - right in the back and middle, so the castle was straight ahead. There was a man from Hawaii playing the ukelelie (sp?) and singing, and he had a convo with my friend, who was also from there. I remember the pork and steak being a bit fatty, but the turkey was very good as well as the appetizers. The caramel and pineapples...and the banana bread...were my favorites. I'm sure your family will like it. :)

O'Hana's is truly wonderful. We always enjoy going down to the beach an watching the fireworks. You might even catch the electrical water pagent.

You'll Love It!!!

I've been there on my last two trips and it has been great. My son enjoyed the games and the food was awesome especially the shrimp. I scheduled my PS around the fireworks and it was very beautiful. They turn down the lights and put on the music. If you want to see the fireworks check the schedule before you make your PS.

This is just bugging me...

It is 'Ohana. O'Hanas sounds like an Irish pub.

Sorry about that.

It's OK. I haven't been there in awhile, so I don't know how to spell it. I tried to change it after I found the correct spelling, but it wouldn't work. Sorry!

No problem.

Next time just hit the edit button, change /add what you want & then save the changes.

No matter how you spell it, you'll have a great time. :D

Did O'hana's on my last day of my holiday last year. Planned it so that we would do our PS after that night's showing of Fantasy in the Sky. Turns out that my friends were late, so ended up eating round about 10pm, but since we weren't fans of rowdy kids games it worked out quite well for us (peace and quiet :D ).

We especially liked how we were introduced to Ohana's like a guided tour (you'll know what I'm talking about when you get there ;) ). Really helps in getting you in the mood.

As I said before, the late time we ate at meant that all the kids were gone. Therefore we had all the time in the world to savour the food. Excellent stuff, really worth recommending. Also liked how the food came to you (a buffet where you don't have to keep getting up to get more food!). How lazy am I? :drevil:

And of course, there was the pineapple and caramel :slurp: . Save some space for it, it's a great finisher to the meal.

Yeah, the pineapple & caramel. So good the missus was encouraged [threatened] to try to make it at home. Got it right but he atmosphere just wasnt the same. What a way to end the meal. :sohappy:

 I've mispelled stuff before & was able to correct it, but then again it was immediately afterward. I've never tried to delete anything from a title though.

Depends on who you get as far as the guided tour.

I've gone when it's been super busy and shown everything, told about each drink, dessert, meats, etc. I've also gone twice when it's not so busy...once got the same spiel. Other time, nothing but here's your bread, your seat, server will be with you in a moment.
