Ohana without reservations?

what are the chances of a party of three getting into ohana without reservations? I've been trying for February 26th for dinner time for about a month now with no such luck. We have a 1900 park fare dinner booked as a back up but since we're doing two other princess meals throughout our trip we wanted something different.

I would say possible, but highly improbable. You should probably stop off at Ohana's on the way to 1900 and talk to the Hostess. There may be a last minute cancellation or no-show. If nothing is available, just get on the monorail and head over to the GF. Good Luck.

check the day before and the day of ... if you're not to picky about a time you should have luck... if not, a walk up might be a big waste of your time.

A couple of years ago, we were in the line for reservations, waiting to be checked in, when a big group walked up to the podium, ignored all of us waiting there, and asked for a table for 5. They were asked if they had a reservation and they did not. They thought that because they were guests at the Poly that they could automatically get into the restaurant LOL. Boy were they mad!!! They were told they could put their name on a wait list and they could stay in the lobby area and wait to see if there was a cancellation. They decided to go elsewhere!

A few things that have worked for us in the past:
1) A checks other shave posted - the day prior...when many people cancel
*** EDIT ***....should have read "as others have posted - check the day prior....when many people cancel
2) Is the 26th the 1st day of your trip? If not, go in person the 1st day of your trip and ask the manager, PLEASANTLY, if there is any chance you could get a walk up for that date..... make it clear you are willing to wait
3) Go on the 26th, early and repeat #2 .... you have to be willing to wait, and convince them of that
4) Big item here....I hope you are not on the Dining Plan....If you walk up anywhere, tell them you are paying cash. The greatly increases the chance of getting a walk up. If you are on the Dining Plan, are you willing to pay out of pocket anyway? It might help....
5) Try getting a reservation for 4......and modify after the fact...sometimes it works...

Good luck and DON'T give up...

I think the chances are slim, but I do think the other PPs' advice of checking 24 hours out is good advice.

You didn't ask this, but FWIW, we enjoyed Park Fare more than 'Ohana. We felt 'Ohana was overrated. Nothing was that good and it was not a super pleasant experience. The characters at Park Fare were the BEST. I don't remember anything particularly special about the food, but I had heard horrible things about it, and I just remember thinking - what's the fuss? We had plenty of food, and it was all good and varied. But Park Fare is really about the characters. Probably the best character interaction we have ever had. The pics we have of my daughter with the evil stepmom and stepsisters are priceless.

So if you aren't able to get 'Ohana, maybe you'll have a great experience at Park Fare.

I just wanted to say that I had the hardest time getting this sentence to resolve into something that made sense!

Just to show that it's all about personal experience, 'Ohana is by far one of my favorite WDW restaurants - both the food and experience are exceptional (to me).

I had trouble with that sentence too! And yes, it's all about personal experience, personal taste, and random luck to some extent. Every restaurant can have an off day and if you have the misfortune to dine there on that day, you may never go back. I know 'Ohana has many fans. No one in my family wants to go back, but it may have been an off day, or it's just not for us.

My husband and I tried a few years ago to walk up at opening time thinking surely we could get in with a table of 2. We were sadly mistaken and thought we might have to have chicken nuggets for our anniversary dinner. Thankfully a CM called The Wave and got us a reservation there. It wasn't O'hana but we did enjoy our dinner at The Wave.

Ohana is hit or miss. It really comes down to the head and second server. My best visits have been when the both servers are attentive, happy, energetic, and do not make me feel like a fat pig for requesting more wings and noddles (etc.). My last two visits, the second server huffed when I asked for more grilled shrimp then the head server disappeared from my table but spoke to his other tables. It does not help that I dine solo. Alas, my heart is with Ohana because the ambiance and food is amazing.

A checks other shave posted - the day prior...when many people cancel.....ready for this?

A checks other shave posted - the day prior...when many people cancel.......

Somehow the word "check" was moved and stuck in the middle of "as" , ans the "s" at the end of others ended up at the beginning of "have"

Should have read "As others have posted - check the day prior - when many people cancel

No idea how that happened...and took me a minute to figure it out

Don't give up! I saw 'Ohana pop up with reservations for 4 several times on our trip. Check first thing in the morning. We were tempted to book a second dinner there. Also, if one shows up the day of your other reservation, if you call and ask nicely the will switch reservations without a fee. I did this several times since several of us got sick on the trip and we had to rearrange our schedule.

I wouldn't depend on them moving ADRs without a fee unless someone in your group is sick. That is a courtesy, and not something I would be comfortable depending on.
