'Ohana vs. Chef Mickey's

On our last day we want to eat a table service breakfast. My favorite is Cape May but unfortunately it closes for refurbishment a few days earlier. Since I love that place I really haven't been to many other table service breakfasts.

The last time I ate at Chef Mickey's was when it was still at the Marketplace. And I have only eaten at 'Ohana for dinner and that was a few years ago. Never went back because we didn't like it.

For this trip I will be traveling with my friend and her 13 year old daughter. They have only been to Disney once before and at that time they did eat at Chef Mickey's and said they liked it. But I have heard bad reviews of the place.

Tell me about 'Ohana. Is the food good? I know its family style, but what kind of food is it exactly? I saw a picture of a photographer at the entrance(?). Do they take your picture before you sit down like at Cinderella's Royal Table and 1900 Park Fare? Are the pictures included in the meal like at Cinderella's Royal Table or do they come around to your table to try to sell them to you at outrageous prices like at 1900 Park Fare? I heard about a parade. Whats that about?

Which place would 2 adults and a 13 year old be more likely to enjoy? Which place is quicker to eat at? Am I right that 'Ohana is less expensive than Chef Mickey's?

I am a huge fan on 'Ohana!!! I think it's because its not your typical character buffet breakfast. The food is served family style and is really GOOD! I love the bread they give upi when you first sit down. It is such a more relazed atmosphere then say Chef Mickey's. I enjoy not having to constantly get up to get more food at the buffet. If there is anything you need your "cousin" will get it for you. I highly recommend giving 'Ohana a try, I don't think you will be disappointed.

the main complaints about chef mickey are the noise and atmosphere.

It's a buffet which is nice.. but the dining area can be quite busy/noisey.

Chef Mickey's has the fab five, but if you don't care for that then Ohana's has better food and better atmosphere (I'm biased about the food though, anything Hawaiian is preferable for me).

Personally I will never eat at Chef Mickey's again, due to the fact of all the birds in the rafters and what they do while they are sitting there.

I choose O'hana

We went to 'Ohana in Oct last yr for the first time and loved every second about it. Food was excellent and so was the service. It was extremely relaxed and they do have a "parade" with the kids who do a "train" with Mickey, Minnie and Lilo and Stitch but you don't have to get up and participate. It's a fun and enjoyable atmosphere!

The pictures are not included. I think CRT is the only one where the pics are included.

Eww I never heard this before. Yuck!

Glad to hear this.

Thank you for all of the input. I am still deciding. But I think I am leaning toward 'Ohana.

We've done both and I give a slight edge to Chef Mickey's for breakfast. Here are my thoughts on each...

'Ohana has 4 characters to Chef Mickey's 5, but we found the service to be excellent, the character interaction wonderful, and it's just a more laid back relaxed environment IMO. The biggest downfalls of this meal for us were the food. What we were served was not very good...and since it's not a buffet... our only option was to ask for more of what we already found to be sub par.

While I don't recommend Chef Mickey's for dinner, we really enjoyed breakfast. Our experience was comparable to our breakfasts at Crystal Palace...i.e. great food, lots of variety, excellent service, and really good character interaction. It also felt a tad more convenient...i.e. easy walk to MK or one stop on the monorail to the TTC to head to Epcot. I know- the Poly is on the monorail and you can walk to the TTC, but it always feels a hair farther to me - or I may just be nuts :hammer: We had DD5s 5th bday celebration at CM and it was just perfect- they even had Minnie at our table when my daughter was ready to blow out the candles on the custom cake I ordered. While every restaurant was very good with DD5s food allergies...Chef Mickey's real chef :ROFLOL: was one of the best. We liked breakfast here so much that we're planning DD3's 4th bday celebration here as well.
