Any suggestions on a place for dinner?

We were thinking about Ohana's or Boma's does anyone out there have any preferences? Any help would be great.

Thanks
Moto.

Ate at both of them last year, and I have to say that they are both great. I think that Boma is the better choice however. Ohana is good, but you don't get the variety that you will get at Boma. There is so much to choose from at Boma (and the menu changes daily). You also get a great dessert bar at Boma that features some gourmet type items like Zebra Domes. You can't go wrong with either but Boma is definately the better choice.

My vote goes for O'hanas without a doubt!!! I tried Boma's and the food was far too exotic for my tastes. I didnt even care for the zebra domes!! I had some very high hopes for Boma's as we had been there for breakfast which was AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Dinner was NOT what I thought it would be.
O'hana's I have been to several times and it is consistently a good meal with great service in a wonderful atmosphere. Good luck on whichever you decide!! Belle

Two of our favorite restaurants

These just happen to be two of our favorites!

Ohana's is the leader for me though. The peanut dipping sauce is unreal. And those wings...don't even get me started. The whole meal is just great. Boma's is great too, but I am a bigger fan of grilled meat over smoked.

My husband always requests these two restaurants when I ask where he wants our PS's. Boma's does win out on the variety. The soups are good, and I like being able to get lots of small desserts. They don't seem to have as many calories that way! :animwink:

The one drawback to Boma's is the distance by bus. You have to really plan in order to make it on time. Of course, I guess the easiest thing to do would be to make the PS on the day you plan to visit AK, and then take the short ride there.

I've eaten dinner at O'hana and breakfast at Boma and each meal was excellent. I think Boma is setup at dinner just like breakfast in that it is a serve yourself buffet. At O'hana they just keep bringing out food for as long as you ask for it. I'd let your itinerary decide. If you want to have a great meal and then go to MK for the fireworks or something then go for O'hana. If you're not set on going to a park that night then go with Boma. I'm sure that whatever you choose you wont be disappointed.

For me, the answer is clearly 'Ohana. We ate at both this past May. Kind of like Belle said, Boma is fairly exotic. If that is what you are looking for, then definitely go with Boma. They have much more variety and the dessert bar is to die for.

My taste buds are pretty bland. I found enough to eat at Boma and am glad to have tried it. But I can't say that I enjoyed it nearly as much as 'Ohana. 'Ohana is a much more casual and relaxed atmosphere and I prefer to have my food come to me. Being served off of a skewer is pretty cool too. The quality in both restaurants is top notch.

I guess the best way to put it is that I would definitely try Boma again, but I would never miss 'Ohana on a trip.

Looks like we're on the same wavelength! We couldn't decide btw these 2 either, so we're going to try both! We're leaving tomorrow :sohappy: , and it's Boma on Sun night and O'hana on Mon night. Had no problem getting priority seating for either at the times we requested, and we just called yesterday.

We enjoy O'Hana. It gives us a little reminder of our other passion, Hawaii. We just enjoy the atmosphere and the food is pretty good too. :D

My family and I have been to both Ohana and Boma. We intend to return to Ohana later, but we've been back to Boma five times, so that shows you our preference.

I don't understand those who complain about the food at Boma being too exotic. Yes, Boma does offer some exotic dishes, but it also has prime rib, chicken strips, macaroni and cheese, and all sorts of other "comfort" foods. My family prefers it because you can try the exotic things, but always know you can get something you like if the exotic doesn't please.

We certainly enjoyed Ohana, but the menu doesn't give you as many choices. I liked the flank steak and the tiger shrimp; the turkey tended to get dry, and the barbecued pork was downright nasty. To me it tasted like it had been basted in vinegar, which I suppose is some folks idea of a barbecue sauce, but not mine. But, for me, that doesn't mean I disliked the place. I don't like all the choices at Boma either. It's just that there are more of them.

As I said, we did enjoy our visit to Ohana and plan to go back this fall sometime. But we'll probably also go to Boma. Given the choice of only one, I'd take Boma.

Someone mentioned that, being at the AKL, Boma's a little more difficult to get to. To me, that's a plus. In addition, AKL is a great place to wander, especially at night. Out by Arusha Rocks they usually have CM's stationed with night vision binoculars that they'll let you use to look at the animals.

Ohana's is great! Food is fantastic and the people are as good at hospitality as Walt would want them to be. Love that bananna bread! We already reserved for August. :sohappy:

Thanks everyone who replied. This gives me great info for our upcoming trip. We're going in September and will call and make ps tomorrow. We are definately going to try Ohana and we have a free night so we may also get to Boma's? I can't wait to go based upon the reviews!
