OK, I have an idea. My sister and myself are now 19 and 20, respectivly, and we are going on another family Disney vacation.

Beinf older, we want to treat our parents to a dinner, the 4 of us, with the kids paying, and we want it to be a really fun festive place with good food. Sort of thank them for all the many trips we have taken and for being such great parents.

I've heard a lot of good things about 'Ohana. Do you reccommend going there. It is like 25/person, so the bill will be around 100, so 50 apiece from me and the sis, so we really don't wanna mess up and pick a crappy place. We want good meat food and really want a tropical theme, so 'Ohana seems good.

Sound good to you for my predicament?:xmas:

I think this is a great idea and a compliment to your parents for the way they raised you. :sohappy:

I don't think you will be disappointed with O'hana. Its all you can eat, good quality food in a nice-friendly atmosphere.

If you can't get in maybe a nice steak dinner at the Concourse Steakhouse in the Contemporary will do. Enjoy your trip.

The food is very good. Not the best on the property but for the price it's very good. My wife just loved the grilled shrimp.

The atmosphere is pretty interesting too. The staff is very friendly, always refering to you as "cousin" with you come in. Ohana means family after all.

It's not a quiet meal though. The restaurant is very kid and family friendly, with lots of interactive activities for the kids (coconut race, hula hoop derby). This is confined to one area so if you want a quieter meal, just ask to be seated away from the aisles.

Good choice, good food and lots of it. And if you want to be a part of the fun ask to sit in front section

And don't forget to make your PS about 45 minutes before the fireworks at the MK and ask for a table by the window. They turn down the lights and pipe in the soundtrack. Enjoy!

I think O'hanas is a lovely restaurant. As previously mentioned it is a very family oriented restaurant. I have never found it so distracting as to be a nuisance though so dont worry about that. You will love the polynesian atmosphere and the all you can eat servings of Turkey breast ( Mesquite grilled) Pork Loin, Sirloin steak and Tiger shrimp is sure to impress anyone. The shrimp have a little bit of a bite due to the marinade that is used, however they are always happy to cook up some shrimp for e that doesnt have this stuff on it!! Definitely check out the banana bread that comes with dinner!! YUMMY!!! My favorite is the pork loin and the fruit dipping sauce, usually but I have gotten into the steak also. My friend Richie loves the marinated Shrimp!!! Are your family big eaters? Another nice ala carte option is the 50's Prime Time Cafe. Have you ever eaten there? Belle

Ohana sounds even better. I will make a PS at WISHES time near a window! The atmosphere does sound delictible.

Yes, we eat a 50s Prime Time each and very trip we go, that being our favorite restaurant overall at WDW.

Thanks for the info guys! Does not seem to be anything negative said! Yipee!!

Ohana has decent food, but its always fairly crowded. Maybe Boma at the Animal Kingdom would be a better choice? Its a little more tranquil, and the hotel is really neat. You need to get PS in advance for Boma though.

'Ohana is one of my favorites. Just an fyi tho, if you get any type of drinks or desserts they are not included in the $25/person charge. Have a good time!

Thanks for the additional info. We do not "drink" or eat desserts, the all you can eat menu will be sufficient. And my parents, for some reason, dislike AKL for so Boma is a def no no.

I'm a little worried about the hula hoops and children games that were spoke of before. Not that this is an intimate dinner by any means, but it is more than a child's birthday party, haha. It's an appreciation dinner and I know no matter what, it will be a great time. I'm gonna check thetime of WISHES whilst we are on vacation now.

Seeya one and all, and thaks Belle. My cousins eat there for breakfast all the time--all positives!!!!

Ohanas'

Ummm, what can I say.......

Other than we ALWAYS go there to eat on our last night. It puts the candles on the cake and lights them for a great way to end our trip....(as Disney says "it's the kiss good-night") (not for Ohannas but I use that saying here)

All the food...
*Really good Pina Coladas from the bar
*Banana Hawaiian bread (for starters)
*The atomsphere
*The meat/chicken/shrimp combo
*1/3 of pinapple with carmel sauce for dipping for each person!!

Oh my gosh! For the price you cant eat like that anywhere else.

If you time your meal right the bay view windows overlooking the lake provide an excelant view of the water parade and the fireworks!

Good Eats,

I wouldn't worry about the games they play with the kids. There's usually only 1 or 2 in an hour or so period. They are also only in the middle of the room. I am 22 and my parents and I always go to Ohana. The food is delicious: 5 different side/appetizer dishes and 4 types of meat. Seating by the windows is definitely a plus if you can get it because the view is gorgeous. I strongly recommend Ohana and I've been to Disney more times than I can count. Have fun!!!

I took my parents there when we went back in May and I think it was my Dad's favorite meal of the whole trip. I don't think you can go wrong with going there. :)
