Hi,

Would like to do o'hana for dinner, love the breakfast so figured the dinner must be good too?

Only concern is that the menu's don't show you what kids under 9 can order.

Has anyone ordered for kids here? What do they get?

Also if we don't want the shrip, do we just tell them, would we get extra of something else?

Thanks

there really isnt a seperate menu that i know of but you can always make requests. I will be honest there is so many differnet things to eat i dont think you will have to much to worry about it unless they are really picky eaters. My 18 month old loved the dumplings she had the chicken wings and ate the chicken that came around, she also loved the noodles, there were veggies to that she played with lol. Unless your kids are strictly mac and cheese only kids you should be ok

Just tell them when they come around with the shrimp that you don't want it and they won't give it to you. And all of the meal is all-you-can-eat, so you could get extra of anything you want regardless of whether or not you get the shrimp.

It isn't really a place where you order either. They bring everything they make to your table and if you want more, you just ask. You don't need to try and substitute anything. At least, that is how is was two years ago when I last went.

As other posters have stated, there is so much offered on a regular menu, (like the turkey, most kids LOVE turkey) and the pork is very good as well. However, I have seen children seated near our table, with chicken nuggets, fries and/or mac and cheese in the past. A few years ago, we saw a child with a hot dog too. What I would do, is call 407 WDW-DINE, and ask the CM if you can get a general idea of foods available for children, couldn't hurt
We LOVE O'hana, and every year go to both breakfast and dinner during our stay.

Yes, you can get nuggets and fries for children. But there is a lot on the regular menu that children would probably eat. My daughter asked for chicken nuggets but that was only b/c the server brought it up. If he hadn't said a thing she would have been happy with the food on the table. My son loved everything on the menu. I think their favorites were the chicken, noodles, and broccoli.

I did request some plain ice cream for the children and they brought out two small bowls for them.

My son is the pickiest eater anyone will ever meet. He wouldn't eat one thing on Ohana's menu but I really wanted to try Ohana. We talked to the waiter and he brought him a generous portion of chicken strips and fries and plain ice cream for dessert. My husband can't have shrimp and I don't eat it, no problem. It's pretty much take what you want for meats.

Ohana is a definite must have. The food is wonderful and the variety is great!!! Great.....now I'm thinking of the last time we ate there. It was so much fun!!!!

As others have said, you can skip the shirmp (or shrip - that reminds me a of a southern woman I used to work with, she called them "scrimps" ) and they do have "kids stuff" if the normal food does not do it for the kids, but really, is so mainstream who would not eat it?

However, it is my opinion - and a number agree with me - that dinner at 'Ohana has fallen way down the charts as of late. Me, I have no desire to go back anymore.

Turkey is gone, it's chicken now unfortunately. But the food is very kid friendly. My kids loved the sticky wings and lomein noodles. Steak and pot stickers also very good.

Really, can I ask what you don't like about it? We hadn't eaten there since '09 and we tried it again on our last trip (April) and it really impressed. Everything was way better than I remembered. It's going back on our must-do list again. The noodles and broccoli were great, the dumplings were amazing, and the bread pudding was out of this world (I heard rumors they changed the dessert but it was still the same a few wks ago).

Although the food has changed, it is still a great buy. Have not had the new dessert, but if you ask for the bread pudding, they will still bring it. The meats of chicken, pork, steak and shrimp were impressive. If you dont like medium rare steak, let them know, as this is how it was served. All very tasty and juicy, not over cooked and dried out. As for the shrimp, a good 16-20 ratio, meaning good size and easy to peel. It's a great place to introduce new foods to young kids.

It has been getting progressively worse.
Last time we went, I would have never had a chance to tast the broccoli and noodles if I did not know about them, since they never brought them to our table. I had to find my waiter (as in get up and track down), who had disappeared and ask him "did they get rid of the noodles and broccoli". His response "oh, I didn't bring you any?" Great service there.

As far as the noodles are, they are passable. Very often they are gummy and overcooked, or they have been held on the steam table too long and they are dried out.

I find most of the meats are cooked to death. I do ask, but they never seem to have anything besides well done. The meat itself has gone downhill as well. Very flavorless. All you taste is sauce. If for some reason you want seconds, good luck trying to find someone who passes by your table. Seconds involves another foray into the wilds of the dining area to find a waiter.

The dessert, to be frank, does not thrill me either. Not very subtile. It seems if they can dump a pound of sugar in it, it goes out the kitchen doors.

Not to mention the floor show. As of late, the MC has ramped the level of invasive obnoxiousnes to new heights.

Last time we ate there, my kids - at the time 8 and 12, both told me after dinner, unprompted "Dad, can we not eat here next time?". From the mouths of children....
