Ohana Check in?

I have our only dinner reservation booked for Ohana on our upcoming trip for 8:40 pm. What is the earliest time we can check in? I heard it varies among restaurants. Thanks!

You can check in pretty much whenever you want, within reason of course. When you will be seated will depend on how busy they are.

I don't think you can check in earlier than 30 minutes

We have pushed it a little beyond 30 minutes before, but that was pre-magic band.

They were fairly strict with 20 minutes last June.

Thank you everyone for your input! We will try getting there 30 minutes early and see if they will let us check in. If it's 20, that's fine too.

We tried to check in about 45 minutes early at Hollywood and Vine in November and they said we had to come back at the 20 minute early mark.

A couple years ago you used to be able to get a table just by walking up to the desk but even that option is gone at most restaurants. I think with the increased traffic they are having to hold closer to the reservation times.

Exactly. Most of the table services are full to capacity. If you have a 7:00 PM reservation, it is not fair to the person who has a 6:40 reservation and shows up at 6:30 if you show up at 6:10 and snake the table that would have gone to him. Now he has to wait until later.

When they had open tables, it was not an issue, now it is.

also this is one of the places that usually run late so even if you check in early be prepared to wait past your time. we usually end up waiting about 30 minutes past our times.

Also to note if your reservation overlaps between an hour before the fireworks you will be waiting. People wait until the fireworks are over to leave.

It wasn't the Ohana, but I was forced to wait 10 minutes before checking in. It was the Sci Fi Diner and they were very busy.

We ate at 'Ohana for dinner on Dec 22nd...it was packed, but we checked in about 20 min early and were seated within 5 min.
