He's just another one of those internet bloggers who like to consider themselves journalists when they have no real sources or information (henceforth known as the Lutz-Yee effect). I'm with you, YoYo, and the other people who can tell you that DisneyQuest was not scheduled for demolition, and is going to be sticking around for awhile yet

Love the way the personal attacks start when a serious conversation starts in the forum.

Some clarifications:

'Editor' - Our service is not a Blog 'Enderikari' - and as it is syndicated by Intergame and Tourist and Attraction Magazine is a little more that a want-to-be (check your facts next time to avoid looking stupid)

'No real sources' - Thats funny, as a early supporter of Screamscape we swap information, it was our email to them last year that backed up the Jack Hill comments - again, gets some facts before throwing around your ego

'Why Iger' - The change in R&D investment is controlled by Bob's team, though I agree he is not the source of the final call, but his executive tree

'Closing DQ' - Its funny how people love to put their words in others mouths - we started this post with a dismissal of the closing speculation (try and keep the froth out of your comments)

Any more insults? but to keep them off this forum and email me direct!

Okay I was on campus yesterday (less than 24 hours ago) and DQ was there and was open with a moderate to heavy attendance.

Why close something that is keeping people on campus buying merchandise, food, and drinks at the lovely Disney di$count?

True, the only ESPN zone we have is in a questionable locale, but the same could be said about Jellyrolls. Both should move to PI in my opinion, but then what would become of the Boardwalk?

Before I had my pass, the only thing that I saw of any resort area was what I saw from the monorail or the ferryboat going into MK. I saw the International Gateway, but never ventured beyond its borders. Now I regularly go to the resort areas to eat, shop, etc.

Same with DTD - I go all over the place there, DQ, Virgin, etc. It's all about pulling people around the property and getting them to spend thier $$. Why would you have BB and WinterSummerland out in the middle of nowhere? Why have a McDonalds just outside the gates of Animal Kingdom and the All Stars?

I wish that people would just look at the bigger picture. I don't like "It's a Small World" (the song, it's in my brain!) but I know that it will be there for years to come because the kids like it and Disney is built around kids! Not adults! My 15-year old nephew loves DQ because its one of the few arcades left in the nation!

Stop trying to put a nail in the coffin on this for Disney - Lord knows if they want it to go away they will (cough cough 20,000 Leagues cough). But for what I see it is still viable and bringing in some $$ that Disney still needs to survive. Why not post what to make it better than trying to close it? If you hate it suggest changes!

It seems like clockwork we get a DQ rumor around the time to the build up of IAAPA or the Downtown Disney rehab project concept discussions.

The Jan-2008 close order was rescinded according to sources, and that new carpets and flatscreen displays ordered. Speculation is that rather than close down for a ESPN Zone flagship the site will be given a refurbishment.

Any comments?

For those (like me) puzzled by the original post, I believe IAAPA stands for "International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions."

Based upon what you have written you are stating that DQ closing in Jan of 2008 was a fact and now the new rumor is that it is not closing after all?

To make a short story long I can guarantee that DQ aint goin nowhere till it goes somewhere... ;)

And who exactly is "Bob's Team"... Last I checked, there aren't people running around my building with softball jerseys that say "Bob's All Stars" (and the correct answers should include names). Now, being an "editor" or a "journalist", wouldn't you think that sources should prove a bit of credibility before being accepted? I would think that most serious journalists would know that attacks on their initial credibility are both a part of the job and a part of gaining trust.

Gotcha... Some sort of super-blog! ::insert theme music here::
I don't see "The Stinger Report" listed on any media event invites... funny that

'No real sources' - Thats funny, as a early supporter of Screamscape we swap information,
Is that really something to be proud of? I mean, Screamscape? They have a worse track record than Jim Hill, and it takes talent to be that bad.

'Why Iger' - The change in R&D investment is controlled by Bob's team, though I agree he is not the source of the final call, but his executive tree
::insert swarmy quote about complete lack of sources and the hilarity of calling a certain department "Bob's Team"::
Sorry, just getting lazy in my old age

'Closing DQ' - Its funny how people love to put their words in others mouths - we started this post with a dismissal of the closing speculation
no, what you said was
The Fabulous Land of Make Believe said:
The Jan-2008 close order was rescinded according to some monorail pilot with nothing better to make up
Which is completely, whole-heartedly, and irredeemably false. We are not putting words in your mouth, we are putting truth in your statements.

Why is someone telling you that you are wrong so offensive to you?
I'd like to email you directly, but I can't find the right address @madeupstuff.com

I've never been to Disney Quest, and might suggest it for our next trip. How long is the wait for Cyber Space Mountain, what is the admission cost, and do the operate at night?

I paid just under $40 to get in a few months ago.

CyberSpace Mountain is very cool - here is how it works. You get in a line and get a little card (like a photopass card) that you stick in a console. The program in the console walks you through how to choose the track parts to make your own coaster. You have 3 possible coaster "templates" - space, some kind of ice land and - crap I forgot the third because I didn't choose that one - desert maybe? Anyhow you can choose from loops, bunny hops, death-rolls, straight track, and all kinds of curvy and loopy coaster track parts. You have a certain amount of time to choose and the ride can only be so long, so you have limits. Also the track part choices are a little different depending upon the template you choose.

When your special coaster is loaded onto your "card" you get in ANOTHER line to wait for a simulator to get into and they load your card for you.

I went on that first and had no wait at all. When I came back around 4pm it was about a 15 minute wait total for both lines, not including the time I took to choose my tracks.

Have fun!
