Trip Report Oh Dopey!! - A two week Rundisney TR & VLOGS *Complete*

It’s time for my BRAND SPANKING NEW TRIP REPORT

Strap yourself in for a the LONG haul because we fit a whole LOT of DISNEY in and I can’t wait to share it all

Karamell-Küche of course! We were feeling REALLY lazy though and we decided to wait for the friendship boat even though we could see that it was going to take a while…

We just chilled on a bench in the sunshine

I had a check of the boards in the marathon thread that I’d been following and there were a couple of people in Epcot as well so I messaged to see if they were still around.


We got the boat eventually and each bought ANOTHER bag of caramel popcorn… NOM NOM NOM


Our cousin text now to say that he had arrived although he was mighty confused about where he was… I think they had taken the boat from HS but we agreed to meet in Mexico because we’d already discussed our plan for our first drink… no surprises where that was going to be!


Our parents had also arrived at Epcot and stopped on their way for a few photos

Even meeting Daisy too!

Of course our drinks were going to come from Cava Del Tequila… Sorry I have no pics of our drinks!! We were too busy chatting away!

We moved on to China and myself and Rachel went to meet @FFigawi and his lovely wife as well as @SunDial

We chatted for a bit and talked about the races, it was nice to finally meet someone from the boards especially after the long build up on the marathon thread to race weekend!


Our parents got a shot in China which has evidence of our drinks lol

We strolled around the world showcase chatting away and catching up. We were looking for another photopass photographer to get a group shot but it wasn’t until we made it to France that we found one

Our cousin had reservations in Via Napoli so they went off to have dinner and we made our way out towards the exit. We stopped in starbucks and my parents used their last credits on some large caramel frappuccinos…

We went to the bus stop to wait for the bus back to our new resort… Animal Kingdom Lodge! I was really looking forward to Boma!

We didn’t wait too long for a bus, we went to our room and dropped our luggage off and got ready for dinner.

I was a very bad trip reporter today… I think maybe because it was such a relaxing day!

With the dining plan we also got free soda drinks AND unfortunately as we did not have the dining plan with our AKL stay this was our last FREE thing... For our next trip Mam has insisted that we have FREE things everyday hahaha

One is this fish stew/soup which had a curry flavour off it and was AMAZING

And the other was this other curry soup with some rice (Dad was clearly mid eating as I tried to snap this one)

I promise I’ll do better from now on. Boma was lovely, our waitress was great, the cocktails were yummy and we had a nice evening!​

Day 12 – Universal & Sanaa
Tuesday 12th January 2016
Part 1 – The moving walkway exit is approaching
Today was our day to head to Universal! My mam had zero interest but my cousin and his girlfriend were planning to head there too so we drove to their hotel on International Drive and picked them up on the way
Now one of my biggest tips for Universal if like us you don’t plan on spending a full day there is to not bring any bags or loose articles. I did have my phone with me but that was it, no camera and no bag. The only downside to that is less photos but hey it’s ONLY Universal right?! Lolz

So we paid extra for preferred parking (OMG parking is expensive now??!! I’ve not really noticed the increasing parking costs because we’ve stayed at a Disney resort the last few trips!) and walked tout towards citywalk

‘Caution… the moving walkway exit is approaching’

^^THIS reminds me of our trips to Orlando when we were younger. We would always head to Universal on our first day and hearing that announcement as we made our way along the walkway towards the park still gives me all the feels…

We made our way over to the Universal Studios Park.

Another tip for Universal is to always get there before the advertised park opening time, they let guests in earlier than the advertised time but you may have to wait to get on the rides if there is early morning ride time for onsite guests. Still you can get a head start of the bulk of the crowds.


We went straight for Diagon Alley and onto the newer of the two Harry Potter Rides Escape from Gringotts. I had my phone tucked away so we didn’t have to queue for a locker so I’m afraid I don’t have any of my own photos.

This is probably my favourite part of any ride queue ever… it’s awesome.. the detail of the goblins is fantastic and you feel like you are right there in the movie

The rest of the queue is awesome too, it’s so immersive!

I had only been on this ride once before so it was fun to experience it again, I don’t want to spoil it for anyone so I won’t! But I think I may enjoy this ride more than the Forbidden Journey, mainly because it doesn’t make me feel ill!

After that we were going to head to Kings Cross for the Hogwarts Express but the queue was already pretty long so we walked around IOA instead

We made straight for the Harry Potter area. I took some sneaky photos in the Forbidden Journey.. We did have to queue for this ride for a bit but I didn't mind too much as the queue is really cool!

We then went for a wander to Jurrasic Park... I realised something today.... If it's cold out there really isn't much to do at IOA! Especially when the Hulk is down for refurb!!!

We continued walking around until we reached Spiderman and decided to queue for that, it was about a 15min wait.​

I do like Spiderman, again it's a classic for us so we always enjoy it. Transformers is basically an exact replica with a different movie!

My cousin wanted to go on Dr Dooms Fearfall but we weren't interested in queuing for it and walked back around to Hogsmead to go on the not so dueling dragons

We tried to go on with our phones in our pockets as we had done all day but they had metal detectors! My Dad went back to the lockers (which had a queue) and said to me and my sister to ride and he'd re-ride with us when we came out. We went through the queue but realised that the queue was a good 15mins long (not the 5mins posted outside) so we backtracked out (not a nice queue to back out of as it's LONG and DARK) and finally found my Dad and queued together.

I miss the Dueling of the Dragons... We used to ride this over and over again and sit in the front row on separate dragons and wave at each other every time we passed!

We came back out to Hogsmede and had a bit of a look around the shops

We used to the bathroom and said hello to an old friend... she's a bit of moan that one!

By this time my cousin had caught up with us and we all rode on the Dragons again.

We decided to board the Hogwarts Express back to Universal Studios next seen as there wasn't much else left to do in IOA.

Harmione's voice..... enough said

I do still really enjoy this journey and it's such a cool idea, that voice is very distracting though!

We walked around towards The Simpsons area, I LOVE how well they have pulled off the theme here it's awesome!!

My cousin wanted to ride the Simpsons ride so we left him and his girlfriend to do that (MOTION SICKNESS) and we explored the area

We were hungry now so there was really only one place to go

The food here isn't amazing (typical quick service) but it's KRUSTY BURGER!!!

Rachel bought a GIANT donut

She always looks at this thing and never buys it so I convinced her to this time

We sat in Moe's bar to eat which was really cool!

I'm glad they still pay tribute to the old ride from this area.. presume you all know what movie this is from?!

We decided to head back towards Diagon Alley for one more explore of the area and got chatting to a friendly bus driver

We met my cousin and went over to the Mummy for our last ride of the day together...

YOUR SOALS ARE MINE!!!!

We said our goodbyes and then myself Dad and Rachel rode the Minions ride and Rip Ride Rocket on our way out of the park.

And that was it from Universal for us! We were finished by around 2pm and I think that was partly due to the lack of rides in IOA but also the crowd level being higher than we expected which meant we skipped out on rides that we've been on loads of times before.​

Day 12 – Universal & Sanaa
Tuesday 12th January 2016​

Part 2 – It's all about the bread service
​

After Universal we decided to chill at our resort for the rest of the afternoon. I sat out on the balcony checking out our visitors

You just can't get bored of this view!

One thing we really wanted to do on our last trip but didn't get the chance to was roasting marshmallows so today we knew it was happening at Animal Kingdom Lodge (it alternates between there and Kidani Village) at 5pm. We made our way down to the lobby and there were signs directing us out of the back exit towards the marshmallow goodness!

We each collected our stick and marshmallow and started toasting


Mmmmmmmmmmmm marshmallow...

We got to reload our sticks as many times as we wanted! Rachel is in her element right here! I genuinely had to plan our next trip with marshmallow time in mind so that we can go back a few times over the week!

After a few I had my technique for the perfectly roasted marshmallow! They were so delicious!!

I took some more photos of the animals that were out and about on our walk back to the lobby, we were going back to the room to get ready for our dinner reservation which was going to be a first for all of us!

We got ready and went out to the front of AKL to catch the bus to Kidani Village. There is a little mini bus that runs back and forth between the two resorts. We waited a few mins for it to arrive and hopped in. The driver was playing some Lion King music and me and Rachel were singing along. There was only us and another couple in the bus and I'm pretty sure they were enjoying the sing along haha

We arrived at Kidani and went straight to the check in desk for Sanaa, we didn't have to wait long before we were shown to our table.

I had done some research online and I already knew what I wanted... Bread Service & Butter Chicken!

We ordered a bread service with all the dips and then two services of butter chicken & braised beef.

The bread service arrived and it was love at first sight

It was all so nice!! We tried all the dips and we ended up ordering some extra bread so we continue eating them! It was fine to share between the four of us although I could easily have eaten more!

Next was our main courses

Wow how good does that look?!

It tasted as good as it looks as well and just like I expected the butter chicken was my favourite! Seriously if you're getting one of these to share you pick two main courses and I would recommend butter chicken with butter chicken because you're going to want a portion of that all to yourself.....

We didn't have desert but I did have a cocktail

We REALLY enjoyed this meal, it was one of my favourites of the whole trip. It was really handy too that it was right at our resort and it was nice to just spend the evening there instead of heading to a park.

With full bellies we went out to catch the bus back to AKL and head to bed. ​

Day 13 – Magic Kingdom & Shopping​

Wednesday 13th January 2016

Part 2 – Stars of the show​

​

We came back to the Magic Kingdom in the evening to enjoy some night time fun! We had a fastpass for enchanted tales with Belle and then Wishes (so sad this isn't a thing anymore)

We stopped on Main Street for a famliy photo ​

Does anyone else find it really hard to go down Main Street without taking a photo??? It's just necessary...​

​

We walked over to Enchanted Tales with Belle and got in line. It was kinda awkward because we got to this door after going through the fastpass queue and there was nobody at it and so we were just like 'hellllooooooooooooo' ..... 'helloooooooooooo' and then we were let into the pre-show thing were there were other guests that were probably wondering who the crazies were outside... ​

We went on to the next part of the pre-show with the Wardrobe and both me and Rachel were selected to participate in the show... Rachel was Mrs pots and I was the Wardrobe herself! I knew my parents would get a massive kick of this!​

And I just... stood in the background... apparently the Wardrobe doesn't do very much lol​

We then went around the room in a little parade while everyone clapped!​

And finally we got our picture taken with Belle​

Afterwards we went to The Plaza for ice-cream before claiming our spots in fastpass viewing area for Wishes​

Celebrate the Magic was first​

Then Wishes... I was using my phone and not really wanting to snap too much during the show​

It's a great view from this area (the fenced off grass area in the hub) so I'm going to try and watch from there anyway next time.. It was really nice that it wasn't as crowded as the rest of the hub so I guess that'll change​

It was EMH so next we decided to try again for those Galactic Hero badges

​

I got pretty high this time, around 600,000 and Dad was NOT impressed he knew something was up after getting less than 100,000 himself. We let them in on our sneaky secret and re-rode​

​

We got stuck right at the start when I had a perfect shot at one of the 100,000 targets! We stopped for like 15secs but that was enough time for me to get my score right up so I had maxed out before we even got halfway!​

​

I was trying to help Mam at this point...

​

So we get the exit of the ride and I'm SO EXCITED to collect my badge when we realise that the little area you normally walk through where they have the photopass pics showing and you get your badge was CLOSED.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Luckily I had picture evidence of my achievement and planned to claim my prize tomorrow!

Back to the bus stop and off to bed with our tired selves. I was so smug on the way back now that I had (almost)official galactic hero status​

Day 13 – A Breakfast Tradition & 50's Prime Time​

Wednesday 13th January 2016​

Part 1 – Our Favourite Breakfast​

The next morning we were up early again and off to Animal Kingdom! We drove from our hotel and it was such a quick trip, Animal Kingdom Lodge may be a bit further away from the other parks but it’s pretty perfect for an AK day!

We parked up and walked into the park… I was feeling a bit off this morning and I’d say that was still the weekend catching up on me but I was really looking forward to a few rides on Everest and our traditional character breakfast…

We went straight to Everest and rode that twice in row with no wait

We then took a leisurely stroll over towards breakfast at Tuskar House

Check in was quick and we waited to be called

It was pretty quiet!

This breakfast is one that we always go to, it’s the best character breakfast food wise in my opinion and possibly even overall but I did really enjoy Crystal Palace too so it’s hard to choose!

We were given our jungle juice and set off to fill our plates with delicious breakfasty GOOOODNESS!

While I was away I'd missed Donald! DEVASTATED!! :sad:​

I just asked our server if he could come back later and he said to let him know when we'd seen everyone else...

Next up was Mickey! I just love his Safari outfit, it's so adorable!

Everyone knows what Mickey loves right???

Next was my favourite! GOOFY! He actually became my favourite as a result of our first ever character breakfast in this very restaurant about five years ago. We had literally just sat down at our table when Goofy strutted into the room pulling his gloves tight on his hands and pointed directly at Dad as if to say 'YOU' and then stood in a pose waiting for Dad to join him for a photo... It was so funny!

They still have a special connection... in fact I'd say Dad is probably most like Goofy!

Next up was Daisy... she was sassy as every!

I did have a few more plates but I'm sorry it must have been too tempting to scoff the lot and I didn't take any more photos... WHOOPS!

We let our server know that we'd seen everyone else and he got Donald to stop by on his way into our room

Wednesday 13th January 2016​

Part 2 – Parents Day Out
​

We were so full up after breakfast, with so many delicious options it’s hard to know when to stop! We had a fastpass for Everest so we did ride that one more time but I’d been feeling exhausted all morning and I just wasn’t in the mood to stay out any longer… Boo​

I decided to head back to the room and Rachel came with me. The fun didn’t stop there for my parents though! While we were gone they took plenty of photos…
​

First up was one with the tree of life... pretty standard​

Then they went back to Africa and got some there​

The whole time they were getting these photos that women stayed in the window... I think the photopass guy tried to cut her out​

THEN they decided to go meet some characters! Starting with Baloo and King Louie...​

So as you can see Mam and Dad had a LOT of fun without us... In the meantime myself and Rachel got back to Animal Kingdom Lodge and rested. I had the chance to facetime my boyfriend and also have a little nap. I was about to lay down again when I decided I would check the shop parks app again for Lumiere, I had been checked obsessively all trip with no luck and wouldn't you know it was back in stock!!​

So... without any hesitation myself and Rachel RAN out of the room and went to bus stop to get a bus to Hollywood Studios. Now Lumiere was showing in stock here and at a few other locations but we had planned to spend the evening in HS anyway so we'd just be getting there a bit earlier than planned. I was so scared that it would be out of stock by the time we got there!​

​

LUCKILY there was loads of them! YAH! We bought one each and requested for it to be available at the park exit later that evening to take back to the room.​

​

We had said to our parents that we were in Hollywood Studios and they were planning to join us when they arrived... OR so we thought! Apparently they arrived and decided to take lots of photos while we were waiting for them!​

It was almost time for dinner so we made our way over to 50's Prime Time where Dad spotted another photo opp... I swear we're not usually this vain!​

Day 14 – A Breakfast Tradition & 50's Prime Time

Wednesday 13th January 2016
Part 3 – Grandma's cooking

We arrived at 50's, checked in and went straight to the bar!​

It was really quiet at the check in area and bar, it's been very busy before when I've visited.
Rachel got comfortable in front of the TV while she waited​

Christmas decor is on point! Love the excess tinsel! ​

We didn't even get a chance to order a drink before our names were called and we were off to our table​

I love the theme here, Rachel is not so fussed on the food selection. Our waiter was awesome and even though he had another really big table to serve we never felt neglected and he made the meal that much more enjoyable. This was a welcome change in comparison to a similar experience earlier in the trip at Raglan Road.
We ordered a starter to share but asked for it with the main meals, this is the fried herb and garlic cheese that we tried on our last trip and it is YUMMY! ​

I went for a sampling of Mom's favorite recipes ​

And I seem to have missed out Mam's dinner which probably means she go the same as one of us... OOOPS!

We had a fastpass booked for Fantasmic so after dinner that's where we went! It had been a while since I'd seen Fantasmic as we'd skipped it on our last trip.
I've only got a couple of blurry photos which I won't subject to you but we enjoyed the show. It's not one of my favourite night time shows and it's not a must do for me on every trip but it's still enjoyable. I really like the end part where they come out on the floats.
We made our way out of Fantasmic (which takes FOREVER if you're not right by the exit) and down Sunset Boulevard stopping for some photos​

As you can see it was super busy and crowded but we still managed to get some good photopass pics​

Think Dad nailed the face best!​

Because of the crowds we decided to watch the Star Wars fireworks out by the exit. ​

Day 15 – HS & Wishes from California Grill​

​

Friday 15th January 2016​

Part 1 – All except YOU Jedi​

​

I was up bright an early as usual and wanted to go to Hollywood Studios for EMH, Rachel decided to join me but our parents stayed behind and said they'd join us later.​

​

I really wanted to do the Star Wars meet and greet and the lines had been pretty bad the night before so today was the day!​

​

We left without my Mam again but she was already up and was going to follow us an hour or so later... just enough time to ride Rockin Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror!​

​

We caught the bus from the main building again to avoid traveling around the resort and made it to HS just before opening for EMH, we scanned our magic bands on approach to show that we were staying on site and then got in line for the turnstyles.​

​

Once inside we went straight to rockin rollercoaster....​

​

The girl behind me looks PETRIFIED! :scared1:​

​

We then rode ToT twice... GOD I LOVE THIS RIDE!!!! They BETTER not re-theme this version... I would be so sad :sad:​

We had a little browse around the stores while we waited for the Star Wars meet and greets to start (10am)...​

​

Our parents text to say they were almost there, we hopped in line for Chewbacca. This meet was funny, he is a great character to meet!​

​

He was not impressed that I had a storm trooper on my shirt and started yelling and pointing at me! Luckily he was still happy to pose for a picture...​

​

​

We then hopped in line for Darth Vader and my parents joined us..​

​

This is THE most memorable meet of our whole trip... It was down right scary! I don't know what I expected but we were taken through the doors and down a corridor and I was expecting to wait a while behind other guests before seeing him but we came straight into the room and he was passing up and down like he does in the movie and breathing really loudly. It was really intimidating (but you know in a cool way because it's DARTH VADER!!)...​

​

He stopped and pointed to where we should stand so we quickly lined up and he continued to walk across the room back and forth...​

​

​

Suddenly he turned and his voice boomed 'I sense fear in all of you... except YOU (he pointed to me)... JEDI!​

​

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Don't kill me please!!​

​

(side note: when we came back in Fall 2016 it was Kilo Ren not Darth Vader, do they swap out now or is it always Kilo Ren?? Darth Vader is SO MUCH COOLER THAN KILO REN!!!!)​

​

My Dad was all like 'Aw.. you met Chewbacca without me?' so back in line we got. This time our wait was quite a bit longer, around 20mins or so.​

​

This time I had my jacket zipped to hide my offending shirt and we got on much better....​

Next up was our fastpasses for Toy Story Mania​

Rachel smashed it!! Best in Vehicle... I am just not good at this one!​

Our next fastpass was for Star Wars, I kept my fingers crossed in the hope that I would NOT get motion sickness this time...​

SUCCESS!! I was OK! But definitely one ride is my limit...​

​

We bid farewell to Star Wars and HS as we had lunch reservations over at Epcot!​

Day 15 – HS & Wishes from California Grill

Friday 15th January 2016
Part 2 – Les Chef de France

We got the boat from HS to EP which was quite enjoyable! Handy if you're not in a rush and can enjoy the ride. We arrived at Epcot and made our way towards France stopping for some pics along the way

LUNCH TIME!! ​

We ordered of the prix fixe menu for around $35, I'm sure at the time it was cheaper at lunch than Dinner but I think that's no longer the case and it's now $40 and the menu has changed also.
The soup on this menu is AMAZING! Only problem is that both are really good so chosing is difficult! They do a Lobster Bisque or a Classic French Onion Soup.
I eventually chose the Lobster Bisque but with the agreement with Dad that we would share​

The french onion doesn't photograph well but it was YUMMY! I think the Lobster Bisque won out in the end but I REALLY LIKE CHEESE so it's really hard!
For mains myself and Dad went with the croque sandwich:​

It was nice, not AMAZING but nice. I am actually happy that the choice of mains has changed on the new menu.

We left with full tummies and decided to stroll around the rest of the world stopping for the odd photo

Day 15 – HS & Wishes from California Grill​

Friday 15th January 2016​

Part 2 – Quick change of shirt!​

We continued our adventure around the world and came across the #1 duck in Mexico

We had someone else we really wanted to meet... I was hoping he'd be up for a fist pump!

Baymax is a really cool character to meet, I love how he walks around just like in the movie!

Next we popped over to the Character Spot to meet yet MORE characters, we stopped off at the bathroom for our layers of clothing, it'll all make sense in our photos!

We had such great interactions and I'm so happy with these pictures!

We made our way out of Epcot and back to OKW for some chill time before dinner. We chilled at the room and had a rest before our evening meal.

We had reservations at California Grill and planned to watch Wishes from the observation deck. I just realised now as I review the pictures that I didn't get any of us from the night! I guess we were all photographed out.

California Grill is one of our favorites and it's become one of those restaurants we have to go on every trip.

We ordered what was the best flatbread I've ever had, it's a tomato flatbread and it's unbelievable! The menu has changed since and I believe there is a different flatbread available but all I can say is that this was perfection..

Before long it was time to pop out and watch wishes... If you've never experienced this before I would 100% recommend it. It's a completely different perspective and great on a busy night to escape the crowds.

I love how they pump the music in and really create a nice atmosphere. My parents were due to fly home the next day so I was started to feel sad about that. I'd been home for Christmas and then in Orlando from the 1st but at the end of the trip I'd be heading back to London and it would be a while before I'd see everyone again.

We were so stuffed after dinner that there was no room for desert, we left and made our way back to our hotel.​

Faaaab trip report!!! Sorry I'm super late to the party! I love that they have so many character stops along the way in the Marathon! Congratulations on that Its such a cool thing to do but I bet it was nice to get it finished & carry on enjoying your holiday. Jealous that you're staying at AKL- it looks absolutely gorgeous. Day 16 – Bye Bye Parents​

Saturday 16th January 2016​

Part 1 – HS, Pool & MK​

This morning myself, Rachel and my Dad went to HS early for a quick ride on Tower of Terror AND to get a very important photo. Basically we planned to get a photo with our Dopey jackets and each of the park icons but we kinda forgot to get one at HS so hense the trip this morning. I'm not one to complain about a bonus ToT ride though!

The ride photo was down AND the ride actually broke down while we were on it! We got to the end bit after all the drops and the lights just stayed off... we sat for a good while waiting on something to happen and eventually we were rescued! We got to go up a cast member elevator and ride again!

We drove back to AKL and joined Mam at the pool for some chill time. The weather was really nice and the pool was quiet so it was perfect! I love the pool area at AKL!

It was really nice to chill for a while and chat with my parents before they went home. I was really going to miss them so I was glad we had the down time together.

Later in the afternoon we took a trip to the Magic Kingdom. Dad drove and they loaded their cases into the car so they could head straight to the airport.

My parents had yet to meet talking Mickey so they went there first to say goodbye

We wanted to take some nice photos in front of the castle with all of our medals so prepare to be bombarded with bling pics!

There was just time for one last ride before we bid farewell.. we chose Pirates!

We said our goodbyes and I promised to come home soon!​

Thank you! I need to finally get this finished! I have another trip report to start! Aw thank you! It was SO LONG but such a fun experience too. I love California Grill, we went back on our fall trip to watch wishes again, I think it's going to be something we try to do every trip...
